Hi everyone,

Happy Easter! :)

My name is Sebastian Archer, I'm a sculptor from Australia. I'd like to announce a new project I've been busily working on, in partnership with some other Aussies: Peter Overton (Angora) and Adam Weller (mantra). I have quit commission sculpting and I've been working exclusively on this new project, which is why I have been a bit quiet for the last year or so.

The project is called Twisted: A Steampunk Adventure Game. It's a gaming-tile based boardgame using 32mm steampunk miniatures, and I'm acting as the lead sculptor and creative director for character design. We've got a Kickstarter campaign coming soon (yes I know - the entire planet seems to have a KS in the works!), and we're aiming for August/September. Some of you might have seen our stall at Salute last week, or Adepticon the week before.

You can check us out on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Twisted-Game/613395575359309

Or the website (just a splash page atm): http://www.dementedgames.com/

This is the first miniature I sculpted last year that we're ready to show. He's 'Bill Psyches' - the arch-villain from our first box set. The villains from our first box are all 'twisted', steampunk-ified versions of characters from the novel Oliver Twist.

The sculpt is 32mm, sculpted with super sculpey firm plus some procreate/milliput for a few finishing details.

We recently went to Adepticon in Chicago to debut our stuff for Twisted, and I painted a version of Bill for the Crystal Brush competition.

I had a lot of fun making a little scene trying to evoke some elements from the fiction pieces we've written. As you can see, Bill is standing outside the Grey Goose inn, angry after seeing his 'wanted' poster as evidenced by his scowling expression and the mug of ale he's cast down at his feet. Meanwhile, down below street level in the sewers, Feygin has broken through a grate in the wall and is beckoning for the rest of the gang to follow him inside.

The colour palette is an accented analogic scheme consisting of blue-green, true green and yellow-green versus red as a contrast - all the colours of the piece, including the base, revolve around that basic colour scheme as a way to unify the piece and make everything hang together.

Thanks for the very kind comments, everyone! I'm really happy to hear that you like the look of this project so far :) And I appreciate you taking the time to comment. We have a lot of finished work to show over the coming weeks, as well as a lot of miniatures and artwork currently in progress - so hopefully there will be a steady stream of news to share in the lead up to the Kickstarter.

Sorry that I couldn't be at Salute in person - I was at our Twisted stall at Adepticon in CHicago the weekend before, so my other two colleagues held the fort at Salute.

Tommi: The miniatures are 32mm size - comparable to other fantasy ranges such as the old Rackham miniatures, Wyrd Malifaux, Privateer Press, Helldorado, and so on. THis is just a preview: nothing is available yet, we're a brand new company gearing up for a Kickstarter campaign soon (we are aiming for August/September).
