Hi Guys, I have just ordered the superb 200mm figure of the British Para from D Day which has been sculptured by Maurice Corry. My request for help is, what is the correct colour scheme and how can I achieve it ? I only paint with brushes and acrylics. Any help would be gratefully received. Thank you.

Hello Carl, These could possibly help. The Denison smock with equipment;

Good luck with your figure Carl. Regards, SG:happy:

One thing to bear in mind immediately is when you're looking at photos of surviving WW2 examples they are that old, so you can safely assume their colours will have changed at least a bit with wear, exposure to light etc. Here's a large version of that pic of Monty wearing one, retouched to make the colours more accurate:

And another surviving one that's not so faded as the two above:

I can't really help you with colours but you know that transparent effect where the brown and green overlap each another? I wouldn't try to paint that in a transparent way, it's easier to paint each colour area separately the colour it appears to be.

I use Vallejo middlestone for the base, and Russian Uniform for the green bits . I forget which brown I used, but I think flat brown might work.
