Hello everybody,

Here are some pictures of my latest project before my forced stop for a couple of years. The figure is an oldie, an excellent Jeguar figure with an Hornet replacement head. I wanted a face of an older soldier, hence the title. The crushed barrel is by Resicast, the best I've ever seen, the spent shells by Dragon (thanks once more to Danny Heirman for supplying these to me) the bricks from Tophy/Verlinden, the gas bottle protector cap from Italeri and the beams are Evergreen. As always the figure is painted with acryllics and inks while a fair amount of pigments was used to dust the figure. Again the groundwork is build up with my Magic Sculp and pigments mix. A special model for me as it makes me remember the good times, but which was also the start of a very bad period in my life. It was finnished in 2011. Still no good pictures (sorry) but I would LOVE to hear what you think of it.

Thanks for watching,

Gino

Hi guys,

Thanks a lot for your warm comments. It makes me feel less isolated.

Hi Marc,

Health will have to improve a lot before I will be able to join any activity so late at night. I know it's not realy that late, but for me everything after 6 o' clock is like night time for me. but who knows, maybe one day... On the other hand your always welcome at my home!

Best wishes,

Gino

Hi Gino,
While we don't know each other I regularly followed your articles in Military Modelling, and enjoyed you builds and also picked up more than a few tips along the way. I've been wondering what had happened to you as you were no longer putting articles together.I remember seeing something somewhere about you having health issues. I hope you are now on top of them, and you return to painting and writing. All the best

Chris

Good to see a well-known name back here!

He does look like a veteran, nice job!

Hoping you'll have better days soon and to see more of your work again.

Cheers,
Adrian

Hi Maec,

I too long to the early days of AMSS. It was easier for me to come on tuesday evening instead of friday. It's not safe anymore for me to drive alone, so I always need Rita to come with me. Unfortunatelly she needs to work till 21.30 on friday so that's getting way too late for me. Who knows, once she's retired...

Take care my friend,

Gino

Hi Chris,

Thank you very much for your warm words. Great to hear at least one person liked my articles; that's what I did it for. I fear writing articles won't be something for the (near) feature for two reasons. First, due to my illness I have very limited time I can be "active". I need to set up, and break up, my fotostand each time I need to take pictures. Keeping tracks of colours and writing the articles themself also demands a lot of me, much more than what I have at the moment. secondly the magazine I was writing for has travelled down an whole other path than that I support. With the change of editors figures are pushed almost completely out of the magazine, except those to go with AFV's and I don't like to work for something I don't completely support. But, should you have any questions regarding figure painting, please don't hesitate to ask and I'll answer to the best of my abillities. And I also hope to post more regular here on the site and the forum.

Best wishes,

Gino

Hello Adrian,

Thanks for your nice words. I thought everybody would have forgotten me a long time by now but it seems not so...
Glad to hear you feel he looks like a veteran, mission accomplished.

I'll do my utter best to post more and on a more regular base. The more I can post, the better my health is...

Cheers,

Gino

Hi Gino,

I use to enjoy your articles in that magazine, really motivating for me back then ... really sorry to hear of your ill health, I hope things pick up for you on that front.

Great camo, Pea dot looks perfect, great palette of colours. Very nice piece, really looks like a vet!

Hi guys,

Thank you very much for your nice comments. It was a pleasant figure to work on and i had a great time painting it. It's a shame Jaguar figures are quite hard to find now.

Cheers,

Gino
