It is with the saddest of hearts I have a duty to pass on some bad news.
At 1.45 last night 2nd November we lost a fellow
Modeller and Planet Figure supporter to the monster that is Cancer.

Dewi Evans fell ill just before Euro Miniatures Expo in September and felt very tired on the Sunday after enjoying a show he enthusiatically attended every year.
His last words to me were just how much he enjoyed the show and looked forward to an even better one in 2018.

His show visit was part of a holiday on the Kent and Sussex coast with his dear wife Lurraine.
Dewi went into Hospital on his return to North Wales, was diagnosed terminal, and didn't go home again, he passed away last night.

Apart from the loss to his beloved wife, children grandchildren and great grandchildren, this quiet caring and gentle man will be missed by all his colleagues at Haven Holidays in North Wales, and of course many of us counted him as a friend.

A keen supporter of our hobby Dewi was a keen painter and collector, and enthusiastic show visitor whenever possible.

I will miss his mischeivous smile and ready quips as much as his ever supportive posts of the Forum and facebook.

So sorry to have to tell you this but Lurraine asked me to be certain to pass on his thanks to you all for your friendship which he thought was hugely important to him.

I passed on condolences.

Those of you that knew him can post a family message
on facebook @Dewi Evans16 as in his photograph

Rest in peace Dewi you most gentle of men

Paul

A familiar face Paul but not someone I was acquainted with. Sad to lose any fellow modeller and obviously a close friend of yours, I am sure he would be proud to have received such a heartfelt tribute.
A horrible disease and one that will touch most of us in our lifetimes, perhaps a blessing that he didn't suffer for too long.

Oh my God what a shock, I was looking forward to seeing him at Telford next week. Me and Dewi were mates I will miss him greatly, he was a real gentleman, a proud Welshman and a stalwart of the Zulu wars. My most sincere condolences to all his family.
I will raise a glass tonight for you mate.

My sincerest condolencies to Dewi's dear wife Lurraine, and to his family. Only had the opportunity of meeting him once, at this year's Expo, and we exchanged brief Welsh pleasantries, as you do. A sad loss, indeed.

No such thing as "brief" Welsh pleasantries in my experience :D

This us terribly sad news. I saw Dewi and Lorraine at Folkestone and was completely unaware of his illness. An absolute gent who will be sadly missed.
Thanks for posting Paul.

I didn't know the Gentleman.
He did stop buy at Euro to say hello and wish me well,
I recognised that cheery face that Paul has posted.
Please pass on my condolences to the family.

I was shocked to hear this news. I spent a pleasant hour in the company of Dewi and Lorraine at Folkestone having been introduced by PeeDee. It was great to have a chance to chat away in Welsh. He was truly a gentleman and Lorraine a lovely lady and it's so sad that our contact was so brief. My heart felt condolances go to his family.

My sincere condolences to the family. I'm sure we have met in the past his face is very familiar - perhaps a show in past years? Rest in peace...
