! Not exactly one for the cabinet. Me think's! .. :wideyed:

Mark

I can see your point Mark and I expect there will be quite a bit of debate about it but with a bit of imagination if displayed in some kind of context it could make a good thought provoking display.
Besides the negatives of the subject matter it does look a good likeness and a good sculpt.

Roger.

No more or less so than the likes of Stalin, Genghis Khan or Vlad the Impaler in my view.

I probably won't buy it myself, simply because it doesn't particularly appeal to me as subject I want to paint. But end of the day he is a figure from history and that's what this hobby is about - representing history in miniature. Painting up a bust of the Austrian Corporal is in no way the same as condoning what he did.

In war there is no truth.
To remind you how many innocent people have suffered such by order of Napoleon? Or bombed Japanese and German cities? Do not look for truth and right where they are not. War - it is the blood of people, and nothing justifies it. Buying figure soldier, we put on the shelf killer. So no need to argue. Let's just going to collectors.

Nice sculpt but it reminds me a wee bit too much of the National Socialist superman stereotype....perhaps its the photography. If I was interested in painting it I would display it with my Stauffenberg bust right behind :).

If you do that make sure you give your Stauffenberg bust a briefcase!

Actually I think the style of the sculpt lends itself to the subject. If you're going to do Hitler, make him look the part. Oops, I guess I'm the first to mention his name.

Sidenote: To show how perception has changed in our lifetime, I seen an interview with Mel Brooks. He said that today he would not be able to make The Producers (with Springtime for Hitler) or Blazing Saddles exactly the same way. There are too many things offensive and not looked at as comedy anymore.

The Sculpt look good!

But there is a commercial problem with any product of this type. Its illegal to sell it in Germany.

Side stepping the obvious political issues. I have to agree I do think the world has become an overly sensitive place.
It's not as if this funding some crazy right wing fascist Neo Nazi nutters.

And this seems to be the broken Hitler in the end?

Soldiers can be killers but they can also be protectors.

"At the start, there were hunters, then farmers, then with something to be gained by barter, prostitutes and politicians. Given some debate about precedence, those are the first four human endeavours. But as soon as something can be gained, it must be protected. Hence the fifth proffession"

This is all sophistry. Watch the film "Ender's Game" and then tell defender he or killer. ... The line is very thin. Napoleon's soldiers who stand on our shelves, who they are, the defenders or the killer? I think that until 1812 the killer, and in 1813 - the defenders, and at Waterloo who was a quarterback and who was the murderer? Arguments worthy of the Jesuits

I don`t think that this is a commercial problem - Nazi regalia and Hitler busts sell very well in countries outside Germany and they are usually produced by Non-Germans.
Going by the pictures I am not that convinced about the likeness but might be different when seen in the flesh.
Busts of politicians in general are not very inspiring to me - so busts of Stalin, Churchill or Roosevelt would likewise not endanger my wallet although these can be offered in my free German homecountry:) .
Cheers, Martin

I think I remember reading somewhere that figures of the Nazi hierarchy tend not to sell very well, hence manufacturers leave them alone. As opposed to generic WWII Germans you see everywhere.
Anyway, this is fairly low on my 'gotta have' list.

Interesting sculpt. Take away the overcoat and it looks like the actor protraying him in George Lucas' Indiana Jones and the last Crusade. I wouldn't be opposed to painting this or any other historical figure that was sculpted well. Like it was stated above, it's just resin, (or white metal or insert any other medium that could be used)
