Diehard Drummers Complete Set- Mitches Military Models

Hello Folks
This is another Euro Militaire show offer from MMM for the full set of 'The Diehard Drummers' in 120mm based on the famous painting by Lady Butler depicting the 57th Foot at Albuhera May 16th 1811.
The set consists of;
2 x Fifers
6 x drummers
1 x Light Company Sergeant
Resin base with integral dead/wounded figure & drum
+ 1 x additional drummer boy figure.
A total of 10 x foot figures + base.
The latter can be used as a stand alone figure or as an alternative to the boy fifer standing in front of the sergeant.
This set is on offer at the very low price of £225 whilst stocks last. Anyone interested please contact me direct on gordonmi@hotmail in order to reserve one.
As usual dependent on stocks and demand I may be able to extend this offer for a limited period to those not attending the show.

I'd hate to be responsible for any domestic rifts as I've been on the receiving end of them on many occassions. I seem to recall a rather unsavoury incident many years ago involving a newly painted Poste Militaire hussar ending up in a pint glass containing nitro-morse. Aaagh the horror....the horror....

I will have the large painted Defending the Colours diorama on display at Folkestone and an assembled but unpainted set of the Diehards. I foolishly sold my painted version and haven't got round to repainting another. I got severe jaundice after painting the first batch-so much yellow!

figures in total, are quite spectacular. Whoa. . . in 120mm.

Just a thought but if you weren't too bothered about deviating from Lady Butler's image then the Comforting Hand duo of an Officer & Drummer Boy you have issued separately could fit well into this grouping, maybe in the centre of the group behind the drummer with a bandaged head.

Great idea Geoff- it would fit perfectly. I'm also looking at adding another ensign in order to make a a colour party perhaps with some minor conversion work on one of the three current sergeants available armed with pikes and a couple of drummers + fifer. There are quite a number of permatations possible with these napoleonics and several regiments which could be represented. Unfortunately i'm finding less time to paint these days.
Will I see you down at Euro?

Just checked the figures properly and they are a great match. Fortuitously the drummers lace on the arms of the drummer boy matches those of the rest of the 57th group. The drummer boy himself could either wear the stovepipe shako or could have hair sculpted on to match the other younger musicians in the set.
Euro? 'fraid not, I have a few issues which make travelling that far a bit problematic so it'll be the usual Saturday morning Tesco run. At least I do seem to be finding much more painting time these days, might even get the 69th at Quatre Bras finished.

Well ... the Missus ....
In the 70ies when I begon, very quicly the owner of a shop in Brussels asked me to paint for him, fair painting no more . He gave the figurines to paint and paid 2x the price of the same piece unpainted . The only comment I remember, was from my wife to my mother : " ... He don't paint enough ..." Yes, the extra money ( I had a regular full job ) went, for the most part, in restaurants or visits in ladies' shops . As the Beatles were singing : " ... Love, Love, Love ... ) . Sometime, I remember painting Napoleon 10 at a time .. yes ... Brussels-Belgium-Shop on the Grand Place- Tourists . Most of the figures were Rose Miniatures, Lasset, Serie 77, Hinchliffe ....
I didn't knew about what my wifes said, it's almost 2-3 years later when I said to my mother that my wife liked my painting that it come like a burst ... " Dear son ..." . From then I asked to be paid in unpainted figurines,, that's why I have so many in my grey army . Then I stopped painting for almost 30 years ....
