Hi all,

I'd like to present my Dieter in progress.
All done with thermoclay and the use of moulded parts.
Not finished ofcourse, a little framework for the hand that will grab on to the mg, the haircut needs to be defined, belt and grenade on his hips and his collar ofcourse...

:) I'm not sure about that.....

especially Dieters left arm needs some attention, I guess less is more and I need to diminish a few wrinkles there.

regards,

René

Awesome Head.

Hi René,

very nice sculpt so far.(y)
I think the left arm (the part above the hand) I dont know the correct name in English:( ,the pose is strange and slightly arched, but you are working on this fellow and you can change this if you want.

Hello Pedro,

I guess you mean the 'sleeve' , the part above Dieters left arm?
It looks a bit strange indeed and needs to be altered.
thanks again.

Phil,
Thermoclays, my brand is called 'Fimo'.
I use a 'classic' variant, somewhat stiffer and finished by 130 degrees celcius in your oven.
Until then, you can change and apply anything you like.

'sleeve'

No René, is the "forearm" translate from the Portuguese word "antebraço" to English "Forearm". Sometimes, I´ve to go to the dictionary:)
With your talent, you dont have any problems with that:)(y)
I will follow your progress with Dieter:)

Hi Pedro,

In Holland we call it 'onderarm' :)

I will have a good look at them again, even have some doubt wether I will let him carry the ammobox.

best wishes,

René

some adaption on the sleeve and design on the hand.
Need to bake it, otherwise the soft clay gets in my way when working on the other.

Very nice work thus far, although the right forearm seems unusually long in the pictures. Are the ammo box and MG commercial pieces?

Looking forward to following your progress on this one

Rudi :)

thanks Rudi,

Dieters right arm might appear long, maybe due to the macro.
When looking at him in real it doesn't bother me. Did some measurements and I feel quit safe.
Dieters left arm however does give me a little to think of.
I tried to catch the moment of lifting the box in order to gain some tension but also movement in this figure.
Maybe I better remove the box and let Dieter have a shaped hand pressed on his leg, not sure.

The parts are moulded indeed, came from other kits.
This mg is merely for fitting purpose, I have a better one in my sparebox.
Moulding the bipod was a challenge.

René

Just decided to let go of the ammobox.
Just like that :D

I'm aiming for a more relaxed pose with a fresh created, new hand that still needs to be fitted to his body.

I like this way of creating hands (admittedly in a primarely stage) cause the wires keep the fingers from breaking during the extensive filing.
Anyway, for those who would like to have a glance:

Hi there René,

You are making considerable sculpting progress! The overall pose is looking much more realistic than your earlier sculpt. The detailing is particularly sharp!

I hope my minor gripe is not too late, but I think you modelled the belt way to sloppy. It should be quite tough leather but it now folds around the stick grenade like soft rubber. Not hard to update even at this stage though.

Cheers,
Adrian

Grinn :D yes Ferris, the belt would have been more realistic when less folded aroud the grenade so it would have been Dieters clothing that absorbed it.

'would have been..' cause I'll give your sharp notice defenitely a second chance in an other figure.
I was really freestyling with this one, really made up the foils, concentrating on proportions this time however and discovered some essential things that can be done with fimo.

the only adaption I will make will be seen on Dieters shoulder where I will let the mg-belt have a more grab into the clothing for stressing out the weight better. Now the belt seems to be 'on' the shoulder.
Also a nice moment for shortening the belt a bit to make the stretch more believable.

but thanks anyway!

René
