It is my opinion that with the advent of Sheperd Paine's book, first published in 1980, and all the other great diorama artwork that has followed, the word "Diorama" as used in the traditional sense has become inadequate to describe the artwork that is going on today. I prefer to think of them as "Diodramas". Here are a few examples starting with Shep himself.....

Whatever floats your boat. "Diorama" continues to work for me.

We are very fortunate to be showing a selection of Shepard Paine dioramas at WASMEx (Western Australian Scale Model Expo) this year. They were bought by a local private collector and are being put on public display for the first time. I can't wait to get up close and look at the master's works in person .

Thanks for showing these pics John. They are a great reminder of the "old school" dioramas that inspired so many of us to get involved in miniature figures.
