I've seen people making custom figures then packing them into blister bubbles and then they print off a backing card which the blister bubble is stuck to. Iw as looking for something similar.

I've got a few small figures made roughly the size of a lego figure but I have them standing on a small base so the depth of the bubble needs to be approx 2.5-3cm. I wondered if there was anywhere in the UK thst sells blister bubbles in varying sizes that might be suitable. There seem to be readily available in the USA but not very much here in the UK apart from clamshell blister packaging which ideally I would prefer not to use.

Is it just a case that these aren't available in the UK or you have to have them specially made by a manufacturer?

Hi Andrew,

Thanks for the reply. Whilst those say blister packaging they are all clamshell and not suitable for a figurine.

The style I'm after is more like the retro toy figures you would associate with star wars, GI Joe etc, so you have a large card back and bubble blister to front holding the figure. However, because my figure is smaller than an average figurine I would need a bubble blister similar to the image uploaded. That is the kind of style I'm after, whereby I can make up the artwork for the back card. The blister will then be glued onto this instead of opening out like a clamshell.

You could make your own blisters using a bought or home made vacuum forming machine, to have them commercially made is expensive for the setup and normally you have to purchase a minimal amount which could be in the hundreds of units.
Have a search on youtube for homemade vacuum forming to find out how to make your own.
Cheers
Steve

Vacuum forming is a relatively easy process. If you make your formers from MDF, you should be able to vac several blisters in one hit. With the clear HIPS being a thermoplastic, as long as it doesnt perforate when vacced, you can reform it as many times as you like, if they are not perfect first time.
