Hello fellow modelers. Another classic kit. Dragon's 54mm union soldiers. I love the scale and detail of these:)

If those are the stock heads, they aren't that bad. I have been thinking about cracking open one of the two boxes I have and seeing what I can do with them. The idea will have to wait for space on the workbench first in the meantime I will follow your progress

They discontinued this years ago, they sometimes come up on evil bay. one of the sets I wanted.

These are looking great , cant wait to see what you do with them

I grabbed these a our meeting swap meet. I am surprised they didn't make any other historical 54mm sets. I think they would have done really well.

Very nice start on the heads.
I recently dragged my box from the deepest depths of the grey army tomb and re-admired the quality that Dragon had achieved; but still have to make a start.
Will be following your build for pointers.

Cheers,
Andrew

I think that the pictures don`t do your hard work full justice.
Maybe you should reconsider the position of the figures on the groundwork. The figure holding the ramrod stands quite close to the edge of the base. ACW soldiers were used to fight in tight formations. As long as these soldiers are not surrounded they would all face into the direction of the enemy. Maybe the kneeling soldier could be placed in front of the two soldiers that are in the act of reloading.
Just some thoughts... anyway nice work and it shows that these plastic figures can be turned into models that stand the test against the single figures of resin manufacturers.
Cheers, Martin
