Several months ago I received a sample base from Gordon Wells of a Driftwood design. I knew right away what I would use it for as you will see below.

I have always felt that the base can really set off a figure and I guess this is why I keep so many varied bases in stock. Below you see a Young Miniature's Blackfoot Ravenbearer in progress on Gordon's Driftwood base.

The Driftwood base is well crafted and really enhances the Native American bust.
Conclusion:
A well crafted base with unlimited uses for busts or figures.

Guy thanks for a great review and that's a great choice of bust to top it off .
Rob , thanks for your kind words .
Now for the embarrasing part. Due to good sales recently there is very little stock showing on the website, but I have many pieces finished or nearing completion and these fresh items will be uploaded on to the site over the weekend. So may I suggest you all have a another look in 4 or 5 days time. As always if you have something particular in mind you can contact me directly through the website or send me a PM.

NOW, THAT'S what I'm talking about!!!!!! Very nice guy!! I thought the bust was looking very good when you showed it to me but that base sets it off beautifully!!! Very nice!!

Guy that's the perfect base for that bust(y) and Chippy certainly comes up with some unique piece's .

Cheers Ken

This is my feeling
I don't like base that are more and more the height of the figure or even higher
Here with the Indian bust ( by the way a good work ) I have the impression to enter a souvenir shop
Here we miss the point of fine painting, our eyes focus on the base....
Sorry, but it seems that some tendencies todays are fancy , high bases and/or exagerated grounds, leaves, plant...
Will the next step be to use a Fabergé Egg with a toy soldier Inside ?

I have several long pieces of driftwood that I use for home decor to go with my southwestern theme in my home. Some are more than 30 years old. I varnished them and they have never cracked. A great idea for bases. Since I found mine by the sea, a driftwood base would look good with a pirate bust, or, any navy subject in my opinion. Regards, SG:);)
