Beautiful painting and lovely gold braid, would love to know the secret.
A really well done bust, I've painted the figure but may have a go at this one.

Really appreciated Bob. The gold braid was mostly done with acrylics and washes of inks.... It tried to stay away from a metallic look.
All the gold areas were given a couple of thinned coats of medium yellow tone. Over which thinned coats of dark brown ink to bring out the details.
The inks are from AK. The ones with the eye dropper top. They are lovely tones..Once dry I picked out the details again with a lighter yellow. I did this a few times until it was pleasing to the eye. I finally added a little gold or brass acrylic to the yellow for top highlights.. sorry it's a bit long winded but it seemed to work for me. Its down to what the individual likes. The rest of the uniform was done with my usual oils. Mike
