Stephen,
Very nice...I like the green and red...very nicely done! ;)
I can't wait to see this vignette all together...

All the best

Patrick

Very nice work so far Stephen. The combination of green and red looks really nice and you did great so far. I can't wait to see your vignette done.

John and all thanks for the comments. My approach to reds , especially if they are the vibrant type , like in this occasion , is to start with a rather dark mix. Then you work your way up the highlights. In fact I do more h/L than shadows on reds with the dilutions being rather higher than usual. The mix for this one is the following. I started with abase of AC13 + a touch of AC38 + a touch of black. As you notice you have a rather dark mix because even the AC13 on it's own is medium to dark in shade. First H/L are with base + AV909. Another H/L is AV909 on its own.For the extreme highlights I add a little AC9 flesh to the 2nd H/L. You have to be carefull with this one since if you overdo it you end up with a faded look to the uniform. Not the case with this one being such a flamboyant type.Shadows are added with a touch of Ac38 + a touch of black to the base colour. Deep shadows are a very diluted wash in pure black . I hope this gives you a good idea of my approach to this rather complicated colour.

Guy, thanks. I have to finish this diorama before doing anything else. I have to take it with me to Boston since it's a commisioned piece so I don't want to leave it to the last minute.Next figure - musician of the 17th light. All yellow and blue !!!!
