This is very nice and fills a surprising gap in Wellington figures (can't believe there are so few even with Waterloo anni coming up). Perhaps the pose is a bit too theatrical to my mind.

Very nice figure! And, as said above, it feels a gap in the market! However, the pose seems a bit excessive and I've seen much better art work by Mr. Cortina. Seems to me that the painting might not to do justice to the figure.
Despite these obervations it's on my list!

Is it the pictures, or does the coat 'closing' not align properly above and below the belt?

I think the pose would be nicer with the head turned a bit less. Maybe an easy thing to do if the head is cast separately.

Nice figure, but I agree about the theatrical pose and alignment of the coat. And why do these figures in capes/open coats always have to be standing in a wind tunnel? I know a staticly draped cloak is not as dynamic but I'd prefer it.
Still a very good model though, but this ones not for me.

Agree that pose seems too artsy, but the facial details seem spot on for the Iron Duke.

Ludicrous pose. If this is meant to represent Wellington at Waterloo, where's Copenhagen? By all accounts he spent all day in the saddle, and when he dismounted, Copenhagen nearly succeeded where the French failed, by lashing out at the Duke with a hind hoof.

I am not sure quite what you guys are going on about with the pose to such extent. He stands on the hill, on uneven ground. It is a heroic pose, exaggerated to pronounce demeanour of a victor and his supremacy, very appropriate for heroic paintings.

Yes, there are certain angles what may be over pronounced, but not a disaster you make it out to be. I think it will be corrected by different positioning on the base and correcting head angle.

I would like to see a master actually, to see how sculptor originally put it together...

There are much worse figures about, made by celebrated sculptors, yet no one sees anything wrong with them as if blinded by sculptors halo...

I think you may be right technically. But on some angles the head looks too far back and trunk too projected. But even if the balance was/is OK, it has a pose that to me makes no sense if one us trying to depict the Iron Duke's phlegmatic and no nonsense character. Way too much Vogue Magazine and not enough Christopher Plummer-like poise.

If the figure's stance can be tolerated, that is great because it has the best Wellington face I have ever seen and the clothing and sword appear accurate.....with the exception of the cape which is draped a bit as a super hero. I think Wellington wore a much more fullsome cloak, which completely covered his other clothing during rainy parts of the campaign.

You are totally correct that some well known sculptors get a pass here even when they produce sub par work. I won't go into why I think that happens as it's off topic.

Given I've already expanded my Grey Army by nine 1/35th scale AFVs and 12 figures 54mm or above since January the first this year, and I'm about to order more, maybe my statement isn't quite so ridiculous as I will soon be out of space and the old lady is starting to complain...
