Dungeon of Doom Revision Deux - FINISHED

Well, that's this revamped diorama finished at long last.
When all's said and done, I guess it's really three vignettes all working together; which is fine, because there's interaction between all three groups of characters.
I had to be careful not to fall back into my old habit of cramming too many figures into the display, but I reckon the amount used is enough to tell the story.
This exercise has now freed up several 75mm figures that can be used in other scenario's. So, it's on with the next one! Well, actually it's two new dioramas that I've now started working on simultaneously.
The first is going to be highly influenced by Boris Vallejo posters from the 1980's using 75mm figures, while the second will be very loosely based on a short story by George MacDonald Fraser........
and I've already made a start on the 54mm cast of characters for it....

Anyway, enough of my blethers. Here's the updated version of Thulsa Doom's dungeon;

Well, it’s a long story but here’s the relatively short version.
I had tried everything I could think of, including shooting hairspray, various glues and other mediums through an airbrush. All with spectacular lack of success.
Then I found this on Youtube.


Trouble is, the manufacturer won’t ship to China and despite a polite email to them explaining my situation, the response was a screaming silence.
I can’t get it from the UK either, because Her Majesty’s Royal Mail has deemed that a 17ml bottle of the stuff is classed as “Hazardous Material”....
However, I did manage to get my hands on it from a mate of mine in Japan who had a spare bottle and its special cleaner, and it was delivered on Monday – the day after I’d posted the first set of photos.

I do tend to get away with a lot, but airbrushing on the lower floor of our condo isn’t one of them. So having been forced to acknowledge the value of ongoing domestic harmony, I lugged the entire display upstairs and out to the conservatory where I now have my spray-booth set up. Once the cobwebs were sprayed on, the entire display came back downstairs and is now sitting in my home office again, where visitors can admire it as much as they like, while I get over all that unaccustomed physical effort....a six-pack of Asahi Beer ought to do the trick....

I do admit that I probably went a bit OTT with the cobweb effect, but next try should turn out a bit better now I’m familiar with the technique.

Yeah, it turned out to be an epic, not helped by me constantly changing out support characters.
Got there in the end though.
