A Series 77 90mm Mounted Sgt US Cavalry 1865 selling at $327.00 on ebay
That is just plain crazy, and the kit is partially assembled and primed! Hopefully this guy has a collector lined up willing to pay big $$$'s for a painted copy.~Gary

People. Ebay is a heaven sent for those of us with gray armies we'll never paint.
I've done hundreds of transactions on eBay getting rid of kits that would bring $1.00 or $2.00 at a show or meeting but would realize considerably more on eBay. My favorite was a 54mm Sanderson wizard I paid $3.50 for when it came out in the 70's and produced a bidding war that ended with a neuro-surgeon (literally)Sanderson collector winning the bid at $320.00. He told me he thought the $320.00 was a good buy since he was willing to top out at $500.00.
But PJ makes a good point.
I never, ever list at ridiculously high prices. I never start even at current values ( since a modern 54mm retails for anywhere from $15.00 to $27.00 ) but always at a price below what I paid for it ( I listed the Sanderson for $2.50 start ).
In the end I've usually got my money back plus. And then once in awhile magic happens.....

You just watch & wait. If nobody buys and releases the Poste Militaire range, then they'll bring even higher prices than that. That bust'll look cheap by comparison. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

As always - anything is only worth what people are prepared to pay for it. That's how paintings get sold for tens of millions of pounds. Or dollars. Or any currency come to that. It's worth it because the bloke who bought it thought it was...

Okay, admit it. Who among you helped bid this Jaguar bust up to $103?

I admit I'm partially guilty.

A friend/client of mine wanted this bust so badly that he would go up to 150 euro's.

Here they say that the customer is king in the shop, so...

Greetz,

Gino

Oh my God! I thought you meant painted... I wonder if the buyer realises what it is exactly he's just bought.

This one will knock your socks off............am I sitting on a gold mine? A Series 77 90mm Mounted Sgt US Cavalry 1865 selling at $327.00 on ebay[/quote]
Yes, it's official, I am sitting here sockless  Great news though, looks like one can finance a trip to Boston just by selling a few old kits!

I might suggest some caution concerning the recent Series 77 Mounted Civil War piece that went for over $300. I also saw the price and as such went back to research the bidding, and it's my guess it was the perfect storm with 2 extreme bid snipers not expecting the other in the last seconds of the auction. No doubt the winner never expected to pay the price he ended up with. Sniping, using a bid so extreme you almost guarentee yourself a win, has its risk, and in this case the winner got burned big time. My take is the figure would have gone in the 125-140 range tops.

Walt, If true, I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall when the buyer saw how much they were going to have to fork out for their big win.~Gary

I ordered some of Brian Stewart's wonderful 1/35 SS figures from the website a few months ago. Took a few weeks to get them in stock, but they arrived quickly and in great shape after that. Good service, I reccomend them.
