Del.....the 'barras ARE synonymous with 'rascally practice', are they not??? That's always been their charm:whistle: ;)

Certainly some of that goes on ;) . First went there with my Dad 55 years ago, and regularly thereafter. One of my weirdest memories was of a back yard performer who swallowed a watch and then got me and the other kids to listen to it ticking in his stomach. He then got a whip and invited people to lash his back, more did than you would imagine....it was Glasgow after all (think of the airport worker beating the shit out of the blazing terrorist at Glasgow Airport). His finale was to hang himself by his neck out of a first floor close window. Sadly it's no longer what it used to be most of the traders are from the wide immigrant community (not a racist comment, simply a statement of fact) selling absolute shit. Suspect it's days are numbered.
Barrowland though is still a fabulous music venue.

I'm a voracious consumer of books in all forms, hard copy, ebooks and recordings.
Hard copy is certainly the best for reference but I really find the convenience of the ebooks hard to beat.
Having tried a few e-readers / tablets I've settled on the Kindle Fire, conveniently small and a sensible price, fits into jacket pocket. Decent sized screen with good images, email and web. At the 'Barras' weekend market in Glasgow there's an 'independent trader' who sells CD's with 000,s of ebooks on them including whole collections. A good few hundred on each disc. These can be copied over onto your reader.........not that I'm condoning such rascally practice.

You are just voracious altogether ,Jacko

I use this to manage my library and this can convert and store all ebook formats so you can transfer them to devices including Kindle. So you can acquire ebooks in a lot of different formats and move them around.

No need to lose your books or lose them when a device dies and a good way to store them securely yourself if you want to.

Nice neat little piece of software, free to use unless you want to donate, no nasties attached.

Freedom to own your ebooks. :)

I'll second calibre as well as its used for converting books that are not to the format I use. Only thing to watch out it will create a second copy of your whole book collection if you don't watch out.
