Just like to give a big hand to El Greco Miniatures.
Ordered the Alexandros Napoleon Bust late Monday evening and the postman was knocking on the door at 9 am today.
Great bust cast by the same people who cast the Pegaso busts and £12 cheaper than from Historex with postage.

Have to mention S K miniatures do it for the same price but it wasn't listed on Steves website.

Historex take note

I'm puzzled as to why Historex Agents get such mixed comments and reviews. I used them for over thirty years and found them to be nothing short of wonderful. Lynn Sangster a complete gentleman who understood the business and figure modellers. Goods were always on the doorstep within a couple of days, sometimes faster with a tailwind! So can someone please enlighten me?

I have ordered from Historex in the past and have always had outstanding service but for me the one thing that stands out is their postal rates , each item has it's own postal rate and there is no deduction for larger orders . My last order , 4 figures the postal charges were as much as a figure but the actual postage when the the package arrived was no more than the postage charged for the first figure , SO i could have bought another figure on the postage I paid . It's not hard to calculate a total package weight before dispatching maybe this is why El Greco and SK minatures are doing so well or it could be they offer great kits and sevice .

My one and only contact with Historex wasn't good extremely unhelpful to the point of rude staff and then took my money and left me for a two months wait before condescending (and I use the word advisedly ) to dispatch the goods I'd paid for in a poorly packaged flimsy box. Never ever again . I've only had contact with El Greco at FW this year and everyone on the stand was most helpful and pleasant

Glad to hear I'm not alone.
I had exactly the same experience, although he did tell me. "If you don't like it go elsewhere."
Thanks I will, and I have. :sneaky:

I'm gobsmacked, this is not the Historex Agents I knew, I just could not imagine Lynn Sangster speaking to anyone like that, this is the Historex Agents in Dover right?? Who is running the business now? Have the Sangster family sold it to someone else?

I think they sold it to chimpanzees from the service I got. I was shocked I expected a lot better from a firm like this

I always found Historex good to deal with in my early modeling days; quick delivery, choice of combinations for single figures etc.
BUT...that seems to have changed. I ordered a 200mm discontinued 11th Hussar figure at £54, I think that this was the price when it was still in production.
When it arrived it had a price ticket of £36 stuck on the box. When I contacted them questionong their ethics (at least take the ticket off before shipping at the original price) I had short sharp responce that it must have been a promotional price for a show only.
So it's sunset and standards are lowered.
Moaning over, I am now much happier doing business with Steve Kirtley, Gordon Mitchell etc etc.
Cheers,
Keith

My first port of call these days is usually Steve K, but I've also bought from Matt & Celine at EG and have always found their prices OK and the quality of their service to be first rate.

I bought my first figure off Gordon Mitchell at Figure World earlier this month, and I'm sure it won't be the last I buy off him.

Historex Agents: Great selection, very fast delivery, goods always well packed but their prices often make your head spin. That means they get far less of my money than they otherwise might.

I buy very little from Historex these days mainly because they don't carry the figure ranges I want. Having said that I did place a small order with them on Monday this week which came yesterday so delivery was OK as were the postage costs this time. If I was looking for Pegaso products for example I don't think I'd go to them, their prices seem far too high.
Ditto the comments above from Steve re El Greco, Steve & Gordon, top sellers all of them.

There is a maxim in business that it's far easier to lose an existing customer than it is to win a new one. Something that a few sellers in this business should bear in mind.

I have bought from Historex for over 30 Years, in fact I used to Knock on Lynn's door as a lad, and he would always stop what he was doing to let me browse through the celler, and buy kits. He always encouraged me, and looked at any work I showed him.

obviously the wonders of the internet have allowed us much more choice, and all Matt, & Steve offer great service too, and alternative ranges. I have to say that Historex seem slightly less competitive when it comes to price, and postage though.

I will continue to use all three

Jon

Wow! things seem to have changed drastically at Historex Agents, sad to hear about these less than satisfactory experiences, I guess they will have to look at what EG and Steve Kirtley are doing, things never stay the same, seems like they need to get up to speed on a few things now there's more competition.

I've Used Historex since 1976 or so and still do. Their customer service has always been great to the point of calling me if they had a query and my last order a few weeks ago led to a great conversation. Of particular note is that since I left the UK I still use them - they've never got the VAT deduction wrong and the postage has always been correct. So for me Historex Agents remain a first class supplier and I cannot praise them highly enough.

Now you leave chimpanzees out of this one!

I had the great pleasure of meeting Matt and Celine from El Greco at Euro back in 2009 and spent a small fortune at their stand. I've been a very happy and loyal customer ever since.

I have just made my first purchase of of El Greco and can say I was very impressed all round. I have also purchased from Historex in the past and my experience with them was ok. What I hope is that this one post in praise of El Greco does not turn into a 'lets have a go a Historex' thread similar to the Moz Cory debacle of a couple of months ago.
