I agree with Ken, please stop bashing Historex, I posted the question that kind of started things off out of disbelief as the experiences of people were so at odds with my own and others I know. Lynn and Historex Agents have done so much for the figure hobby over the past thirty odd years.

I had no intention of starting an argument or who is the best supplier I just wanted people to know of the good service
and price I got from El Greco.
In these tough economic times I think people need to be aware that a model for £51 from Historex can be bought for £41
From other suppliers at lower postage rates.
Go figure.

I realise you were not starting a war Martin and your original post was very valid. I just do not want this thread to turn into a duck shoot like it did for poor Moz. Maybe those in charge at Historex may see this and post a reply explaining the differential. But already your post has drawn a page of replies most of which slag them down. I just don't think that is constructive.

Have you got shares?;)

No Carl and I will be the first to have a go at anybody that deserves it. But the original post was praise for El Greco and the use of Historex as a comparison. We then get people jumping on Historex about dealings they had with them years ago that really has no bearing on the original post. If someone has a recent and factual complaint about Historex then fine, give us all the heads up. Referring to Historex as primates (even if said in jest) does not help resolve any issues with them. I no longer use Historex but I just do not think it is fair. Thats all.

I was only joking Ken.
I think people show there appreciation with their wallets.
With the wonder of the WWW, it's now a global market.
It says something, when I can order from abroad cheaper than a certain UK retailer.

My one and only contact with Historex wasn't good extremely unhelpful to the point of rude staff and then took my money and left me for a two months wait before condescending (and I use the word advisedly ) to dispatch the goods I'd paid for in a poorly packaged flimsy box. Never ever again . I've only had contact with El Greco at FW this year and everyone on the stand was most helpful and pleasant

So what in that post made you decide it wasn't recent or factual Ken ? As for the chimpanzee comment I could have used a much shorter word beginning with the same letter to describe the person I spoke to there I was being politely flippant that was all.
Steve

Steve, you will notice the heading for the original post is 'El Greco Miniatures' and is a valid statement of praise by Abbo for that company. He used Historex as a price comparison only. he could have used any other company as a price comparison and Historex would never entered the equation. The post was not about Historex. Straight away people jump on the post with their bad experiences with Historex. Your experience with them was very valid and had you started your own thread whenever this happened it would have be valid to the rest of us. But you don't say when it happened and quite frankly calling them chimpanzees or any other word is not actually going to have any effect on what happened to you. I am not going to enter into a slanging match with anybody over this so will say no more on this subject. If I have a bad experience with a company I will post it at the time it happens with relevant details. Similarly if I have a good experience I will do the same. I just hope others do likewise.

Just noticed that Historex have reduced the price of the bust i mentioned to £41.75.
On Monday it was listed at £51.

Ken you will notice that I made exactly the same comparison and also praised El Greco in my post, unfortunately however I don't have access to a time machine so can't jump back to post my complaint re Historex in the forum before I joined it! Tragic but true alas

I have to stand in defence of Historex here and Mr lynn Sangster, iave been buying figures from historex since 1986 and in all that time i have never received one problem, the service they provide is superb,i have ordered on line, over the phone and back in the eighties on the old order form,i cannot fault their service and during all my conversations with them nobody has ever been rude to me only helpful, some people have alredy given their views on Mr Sangster and i would like to share my expieriance with my fellow planeteers,in 1995 i thought i would take a day trip by train down to dover and visit Historex, upon my arrival i was let into the building and whilst in there speaking to the staff and admiring the excellent pieces in the showcase i had the privilege to meet Mr Sangster,it was at this time i was painting alot of the historex kits, and not only did he take the time to come and speak to me about what figures i was painting at the time he gave me a giuded tour of the building,to say i was blown away by his courtesy is an understatement,he was a true gentlemen and i will always remember that day, back in the eighties there was'nt many manufacturers you could buy from and without historex where would we have been then,i feel its totaly unfair to slate companies on here like historex after all the support they have given our hobby,i know people are entitled to their own opinions and views but i just feel its sad that it has to come down to this.

While thanking everyone for their support and positive comments regarding our service at El Greco Miniatures, we would appreciate it if a separate thread is opened with regard to Historex Agents (and/or other suppliers). We have been unintentionally roped into this heated discussion. We have worked hard to build our business and in this respect, it is not fair on us to be associated in such a way. Each business has their own pricing policies - we have our own, and modellers should appreciate the costs involved in running a business. To this end, it would be appreciated if grievances about other companies are aired in a separate thread, and possibly only after having tried to reach a resolution with the company concerned.

The title says 'El Greco Miniatures' but regrettably the thread has ended up anything but .... We have good working relations with Historex and we do not wish this relationship to turn sour due to what has been said in this thread.

Once again, many thanks to all for your custom, your encouraging words and we wish everyone well.

Matt & Celine
