Managed to get one of these Rob Lane 1/12 busts at Figure World. I have been drawn to this figure which pays homage to the nasty character, Sergeant Obadiah Hakeswill, in Sharpe's books and played by the late Pete Postlethwaite in the TV series. A very good likeness it is too.

Painted in mainly Scale75 acrylics but I did do a bit of blending with oils on the face. Not sure I did a very good job but he looks OK in the cabinet awaiting a base. These really nice small bust that Rob sculpts are a real pleasure to paint, cannot recommend them enough.

Eyes are Archer decals, I cannot paint eyes at this scale yet, with a gloss varnish. This is a tad too glossy making pictures a bit tricky but again, it looks good enough in the flesh.

Graham,

This looks great well done for finishing this , like the uniform colour , you captured the face well.....

Really must do mine now!!...in a long line waiting!

I normally satin black the back and under areas with mine ,seems to bring the painting out more

Thanks for sharing

Nap

Thanks guys, the pictures make the painting a lot harsher than it looks in real life. Just wish I could capture it better, the desk lamps are too hard a light. Time for a little light box manufacturing methinks.

HA! You beat me to a question I forgot to ask. I was going to ask to what degree the black back should be. Do you do the arm stumps as well as the recessed back parts?

Thanks again for your support :)

Not only is it really well done again graham, but you are in serious danger of developing a
Nice clean crisp style of your own now. I would never have known you used the eye decals.

I really liked this when rob released it at figure world a couple of years ago and never got one.
Methinks I should have done!

Looking forward to your next offering,

Paul

A nice piece of painting Graham.
The eyes look fine. Did the decal application present any problems?

Andrew

I have to be honest, they are a tad fiddly but it's like anything else, you get the hang of it eventually. If I could make as good a job with paint I would but all I would have ended up with on this would be dots. May not be an artist solution but I am no artist so I have no issues using them when I couldn't do better myself such as on these smaller scales.

Really good job Graham, the eyes look great, and I agree with Nap about the undersides. The black sort of frames it. (y)(y)(y).
Best wishes, Gary.
