Historical Note:

QianLong Emperor(1711~1799, Reign 1735~1796), Ch'ing(Qing) Dynasty -

The 6th emperor of Chinese Ch'ing Dynasty, the 4th son of YongZheng Emperor. Private name of QianLong Emperor is 'Hong Li', Posthumous epither(ShiHao) is 'ChunHuanDi', and MiaoHao(another posthumous epither dedicated to emperors only) is 'GaoZong'. Qianlong is the Name of ans era(NianHao). His Empress Dowager was 'NiuGuLu', Empress Consort was 'FuCha'(Qianlong had 3 Empress Consort in his life. Fucha was the first Empress Consort, but died early), and he had 17 sons, 10 daughters for 36 wives(29 women secured the official rank included Empress, and 7 women not secured it).
In 1735, by The Law about Heir Apparent(Taizimijianfa) enacted by Yongzheng Emperor, he ascended the emperor directly without the period of Crown price. In order to avoid exceeding the reign period(61 years) of his grand father 'Kangxi Emperor', he passed the crown to his 15th son(Jiaqin Emperor) at the reign of 60 years and became ex-Emperor by himself. But adding the 3 years as the ex-Emperor, his period of reign was the longest of all the chinese emperors.
Succeeding the economic accumulation from the Grand father, he achieved the zenith era of prosperity of Ch'ing Dynasty called 'Time of Kangxi-Qianlong'. In the evening of life, he led many successful military expeditions led by himself. But the frequent military expeditions, tours of inspection and court banquets brought the declining fortune of Empire due to the waste of immense expenditure. Politically also, the corruption of government officials disclosed through the rebellion of Bailianjiao(White Lotus) in 1796.
In culture, the european sciences and technologies were transmitted in China by the christian missionaries, and also China was introduced to Europe. And the divers historical and literary works made progress actively based on the flourishing of bibliographical study of Chinese classics.
