I am wondering what everyone does with their kit boxes. Do you keep them or toss them ?
I am thinking that someone may need the box art if they find a kit in just a bag.
I keep all instructions but the boxes do take up some space.
Cleaning out the attic and have a trash bag full.

Thoughts ?

Thanks
Dee

Hi Dee. What I do with mine is I keep the front of the box and cut away the sides. This gives me the box art and all the info I need for entering in shows etc. Easy to stack on their sides that way. On the back of it I write down my colour mixes so if I want to replicate something in the future, I have something to refer against.

Hi Gary,

Thanks for your input and that is a great idea about the paint mix.
I have had people ask me my mix and I can never remember.. that is a good tip.
I am going to do just that.

You should do what I do.
I keep every beloved one of mine and archive them and treasure them and dust them gently and store them on purpose built racking and have a glamorous assistant to help me with my special things because that way I don't have to worry about recycling and I am not in the slightest bit weird ...........according to nursey

Oi .......that's my future d-i-l !

The amplivox ear defenders are my suggestion so she doesn't have to blush anymore at the language from this end of my brush.

Isn't Viagara that niche supplier in Ingolstadt you furtively visit with VERY select friends Del.

I chuck my boxes... to make way for new ones coming in.

I could now however pass them on to Peedee's storage facility, and help the young lady catalogue them. ;)

I've been called a sad-lad for having around 200 plastic kits in the stash (split roughly 70/30 between AFVs and aircraft), plus about the same amount of figures.

Pales next to some though, a lad at our model club has over three thousand (count 'em!) 1/48 aircraft kits, plus some armour for good measure (he doesn't do figures).

Unsurprisingly he isn't married, doesn't have a girlfriend and still lives with his mum (or at least did do until she died last year - rumour has it she was killed by a falling mountain of kits similar to the one above :wacky: ).

As to used boxes, most of mine get binned but sometimes I cut out & keep the artwork.

I eventually get rid of them, usually some considerable time after finishing the figure and always with a little pang of guilt ... I've no idea why, I am the same with posh carrier bags too (especially fancy paper ones with string handles).

.

I save those for going into Primark and Netto...
it makes it appear as if you were only browsing:D
