Hi Kisifer, yes i am using oils for my flesh tones. First of all two thinned out coats of Humbrol Undercoat (number 1). Then a mix of Daler Rowney Flesh Tine. mixed with a dab of Rowney Brown Madder Alizarin. Two coats of this. I then plan to do the first shade with more Madder in the mix. Flesh plus a touch of Titanium White for the first highlights. Hope this helps

bit more done, as you can see the progress on the face has been delayed till this weekend.

Hello John,

I like it very much. I like it more then the English Beer ;) . I cant wait to see him finished.
Do you varnish the eyes ??? I read somewhere that the eyes become more natural after a coat with glossy varnish.

Cheers Marc

Megroot, I will have to introduce you to the better English Beers, I think you will enjoy them more. Here are my latest efforts on the bust. As you have noticed the eyes have a coat of Satin Varnish on them to give them a wet look and bring then to life, I hope

Doctor Andy, you are MY HERO!!! Is that what it takes to get a tenure-track position at a college?

John,
Man, that is looking SWEET!!! I don't know if it's the flash on the camera, but the lower lip looks a bit light. Now, I have a feeling it's the flash on the camera, but I'd darken it with a bit of alizarin crimson (some advice shared with me from friends).

Looking good, amigo!!!

thank you for the kind words Guy, Pete and Johan. I feel that my 54mm and 1/9 th scale bust projects on the go at the same time may not have been the best of ideas.

... Uh ... no? But I guess you mean either the Harton Cheyenne or the 120mm Fort Duquene Sioux?? I think the one we saw at Euro was a Fort duquene Sioux.

Bit more done. I am amazed how different the face looks now that I have blocked in the white of the coller

VERY NICE,John (y) (y) !! Thanks for sharing your progress with the rest of us here on the "planet". Cheers !
Kenneth

John,
Excellent work...really like the way the eyes compliment the figger...you have really captured the charator of this piece very nicely. Don't forget, once he is all done, to take a lil semi clear gloss, and wipe it over the eyes. This way, the eyes have that natural sheen to them. Your browns are nice, too my friend...

Really like this bust of yours, John.

All the best

Patrick

John-
Looks super. I have started to hold off finishing my flesh painting until after I have blocked in the surrounding hair and base coats of the cloth nearest the skin. Makes a diff how I look at the skin tone completeness.

Keith
