Anyone stayed at the Wycliffe before or know what its like?
Barrie

We generally stay at the Wycliffe when we attend Euro. It's 5 minutes' walk from the Hall, good rooms and excellent breakfasts. Hosts are very welcoming. It's on the "quiet" side of town behind the church.

Alex, I'm in the Southcliff, but you'll find all the hotels on that front (Southcliff, Carlton etc) are in a row. They are big old properties and all face the sea.

You won't be able to miss all the modellers, as the hotel bars along that front tend to be full of people for Euro Militaire. You'll spot everyone on the Saturday during the day and then on the evening as well. It will be apparent in the venue on the day of Euro those from PF who wear badges, but make yourself know to traders as well and we'll point you in the right direction.

It's all very friendly, despite what detractors say there are no cliques, just say hello and there will be people to help you.

I'll warn you now, Folkestone isn't the shining light of England and the hotels are pretty horrible, but you're literally a short walk to the Leas where the show is held!

You are to kind sir in your description of Folkestone, it is more like a guttering candle. The only good think about it is the road out. I should know I live here.

Just my usual post here
Take pics.....................lots of them
And post them here :)

Well, Folkestone sounds charming :(

Now, question - the display area for the show - is it like the North American shows i'm used to where you set up your own display with velvet or whatever have you?

There are various reasons why Folkestone is why it is, too many to divulge on here, but remember its not representative of all of England ;)

You'll have a great time though, there are visitors from all over the world and everyone comes together to share a love of the hobby and have a laugh.

As no-one's answered this for you, Alex, as far as I'm aware, the guys doing the booking in of models will put you straight. I don't think you can do your own displays with accessories, etc, as different types get entered into various categories for judging. It might be different if models are only for display, not competition.
Hope this is helpful (and correct!), but I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm in any way mistaken. I only go along for the joy of it; I'm long past entering anything these days. Look out for "Planet Figure" name-tags....I'll be wearing mine. I'm a short Welshman with a moustache-sideburns combo, as in Imperial Guard Grenadiers/Chasseurs.
Hope to see you there,
Alan

Thanks for the info Alan - the pics I saw seem to just be tiered rows of figures, which would make sense, but I just need to know what to bring

Alex, if you are entering the competition, you will need to decide what classes you wish to put your figures in. There is a list of classes on the Euromilitaire website. There is no prior registration, it's all done on the Saturday. You can enter as many models as you like in as many classes as you like, but there is a fee for each entry. The models must be entered by lunchtime on Saturday and judging is done on Saturday afternoon/evening when the competition hall is closed to the public. The competition Hall is open again on Sunday morning and entries that have won awards have a coloured sticker next to them. The awards ceremony is on Sunday afternoon, when models can also be collected. Gold medal winners go up on stage to collect their awards. I hope this helps.

Sadly, for personal reasons I am having to cancel my Euro trip this year.
I already have a Adult 2 day ticket that I now no longer need. If anyone wants it for £10 (your saving £4.) PM me. Given that the show is only 4 weeks away would prefer to keep this UK based. Payment to be done by PayPal.
Cheers
