Hello Figureteers!

Ive a little dilemma. Im going to Euro Militaire put I dont have any particular to bring. At least nothing thats special.

Would it be ok to bring something old, although Ive never displayed this piece at Euro Militaire its not new or fresh. Little more than two years old, that is. It feels like Im bringing leftovers. ;)
Im thinking of my World Expo Shadow Box.

What are your feelings about this?

Cheers

Good Morning Janne,

As long as it hasn't been at Euro before I see no reason you could not take it to the show. In February I took several older figures I had done since the 15 years I had been to Atlanta before. Actually there was a Mountain Man bust that was 6 years old......but had never been to the show.

Good luck with your boxed diorama.

Janne,
I go for the fourth time to Folkstone. I never had a figur with me when i was going there.
I always had some figures with me when i was going home.:D:D

Hi Janne

Don’t ever feel under pressure to take anything to a show/competition, the whole weekend is for enjoyment of military figure kind, by all means take what ever you want, its up to you, at the end of the day you are there to enjoy yourself

Dave

I agree with Guy, if it hasn't been to the show before then I'd say its a fair game to enter it for competition. If its been there before, than I'd say it was ok to bring, but flagged for display only.

Have a great time!

John

Tjena Janne!

I think you should definately bring it! Eventhough it is old to you, it is not going to be old to most of the people there. I always find it interesting to look at others work, no matter how old it is, and who knows, maybe someone saw it on the forums and really wanted to see it in person, and here is his or hers oppertunity to do so.

Bring it!!

Janne, please bring whatever you like. If you don't fancy bringing it then don't. It's your company that's the most important thing to bring.

Like most of the others, I too don't see a problem if it hasn't been on the show already.
Of course you don't have to be obliged to bring something along. You can just enjoy it like a lot of us without entering the competition.

Thanks for the answers, Figureteers!

The reasons I started this is that I often feel a little embaressed when bringing old stuff. :D

However I think its very important to bring something to a show just because it helps a lot in meeting new people and its nice to have comments and inputs. Smoking was also great to meet other smokers outside but since I quit a few years ago it isnt an option anymore. :D

Cheers

smoking

Hi Janne
As a 'professional smoker', I think it sucks that we allow ourselves to be told what we can or cannot do etc!
It's my right to cough up black stuff, age prematurely and die early looking like a walnut!! :)
Look forward to seeing your work!!!
Best
Pete

You can enter figures in the competition at Euro as long as they've never been previously awarded anything in a previous Euro.
Brian

I've known people to re-enter their figure when it hasn't received an award, and gain an award second time round

I'm with you Pete. It's been over a year up here in Scotland since they banned smoking inside, and it's nice to stand outside in the fresh air filling ones lungs with fag smoke. There again i may be adding to the ozone layer problem!!!! I was once told by an office secretary at my work(outside i may add) that smoking kills, where i informed her that i had been smoking since i was 12 and i was going to sue the cigarette manufacturers ,as i've been trying to commit suicide for over 40 years ,and as i'm now 60 i feel cheated ,as it says Smoking Kills on the packet.Should have bought a gun!!!
Facts re-smoking
The goverment receives approx £9 billion per year from cigarette duty
Fact
Smokers cost the NHS £1 billion per year
,so when do we get a smokers rebate?
Fact
Smoking lessens your life span,so we must be less of a burden on the NHS than the non smokers, who live to a ripe old age, costing a fortune in their upkeep in numerous other ailments they'll have over their extended lifes including old folk's homes.
Anyway i'm away to have a cuppa tea and a ciggie
Tongue in cheek
Brian
