Gentlemen I have just returned from Euro, late last night so thought I would add my thoughts.
I did post last year about the judging standard at Euro and got a lot of complaints, this year it was very different. It was the best show I have been to for years and I have been going to Euro for a lot of years.
Ken Jones, Geoffrey Ilsley and the other organisers have done a superb job this year. I never heard any complaints worth mentioning and everything seemed to go very smoothly. I am sure there will be some people able to complain but it must only be very small complaints in the usual way of things, like why Brian only got a Brone for his Bolshevic as I think it deserved more and Smudger didnt get a Gold for his Lawrence...that sort of thing. The same as every year and they dont count.
All in all I think a different approach was in force and people had to vote for good figures instead of their mates crap, so it worked very well and the orginisers should be complimented on a job very well done.
I would also like to thank te people who do the doors and collect tickets, the unsung heroes of the show and I do hope the lady doing the tickets on the stairs managed to get coffee when she needed it.

Great show all round. Well done everyone.

It was my first Euro for a few years and my very first entering the comps ... I had a great weekend and the competition, meeting new and old freinds and viewing the awesome artwork on display made it for me.

One thing I did notice different since I last went years back was the absence of any kind of barrier in front of the models ... I witnessed skimming cameras a few times and poor Edward had one of his figures smashed by such. Will the barriers ever be brought back ?

Also any idea what magazine was placing a "this model has been photographed" under the pieces ? as Military Modelling Euro Special is no more as of this year and wondered who was doing one as for me that was the best mag of the year ...

I came away with a Commended, four Bronze and a silver award,so capped of a great weekend for me :)

Well done to all the other PF lads who took awards (y)

Carlos,

As I understand it photos of figures were taken on the Sunday for two articles to appear in Mil Mod later in the year, which photos will be used and how many pages the article/articles will have remain to be seen.

I had a brilliant time, even Sundays rotten weather didn't spoil it.
A big thanks to the organisers, stewards etc and a particular well done to the judges. Personally I feel that awards were all well deserved and in particular the golds were all worthy of their awards......the best figures not the best pals figures (y)

I'm not up to speed on the judging etc, but I thought there was a nicer feel to the whole thing this year.
Series 7, well done would love to see your entries.
Thats a good idea Richie.
Martyn, great to see you again this year, all the best.

The whole weekend to me was brilliant, one of the best. We left on friday morning and returned home monday night. Great to get to Folkestone early on friday, time to relax and enjoy. Have some great friends at Euro, Rob and Pauline at Imperial Gallery, you could not meet nicer people.
Stormtrooper, what a stand to visit. Stuart, Mark and Dr. Death, sometimes known as Gary. Still dont know what happened mate but I am blaming you. Next year its sasparilla, nothing else. Will see the doctor tomorrow so may find a reason for my little incident, hope its illness but I suspect it was a potion from the good doctor. Great guys all three. I am sure we all have friends we enjoy visiting. This is what makes Euro so special. This and good friends, including the famous camel driver Smudger 1960 and the rest of our boys, they looked after me all weekend, and I cant thank them enough, so I wont.

Hope you all had a really good weekend. Carl S, just seen your post. Congratulations on the awards however you really should have had a gold with that motorbike.

Carl - Well done on that impressive tally of gongs, and it was good to meet you pal.

Indeed congratulations to ALL planeteers who picked up medals and commended / h.c. nods. I too thought that Smudger's T.E. Lawrence had Gold written all over it (ditto Kaz's 200 mm German), but then again - what do I know?!
