Hello Miniature lovers!
I’m Daniele and i’m from Sicily.
With kind approval of Massive Vodoo Staff (Roman and Raffa) I’m very proud to give
to you informations and pictures about a HISTORICAL MODELING COMPETITION
happened to Catania, Sicily, Italy.

Probably when someone speaks about Sicily, people often think about sea, sun, and
food :)

But Sicily isn't only sun and hot :)
It has a plenty number of painters, historians and miniature lovers.

In this particular event, the exhibition counts more than 430 models, included miniatures,
figures, dioramas, and military models. It was really a nice contest, considering outside hot ( over 40 degree ). There were many nice entries in the figure competition especially around historical
contents.

We're also great talented artist! I'm proud to know a great Sicilian sculptor - Maurizio
Bruno (present at the competition). Maurizio lives in Catania and - in my opinion - he's one of the most talented and amazing sculptor in the world (and i don't go too far). If you want to see a step by step article of one of his sculpts check MV's tutorial section to see how Maurizio sculpted little Red Riding Hood.

If you don't know him, Maurizio is a sculptor that together painter Danilo Cartacci won
BEST OF SHOW HISTORICAL at STRESA EXPO MODEL 2014, with this model:

Going back to the event report, it is good to see the hobby living and growing, but I've got some criticism as well: that's still insufficient - in my opinion. I'm so happy that Sicily contains a large community of painters, but unfortunately, too few events like this.

I think It could be important to growing the Art of Miniature Painting on this wonderful
mediterranean island. Effectively the latest event like this, was happened 2 years ago. Too
few guys! :-(

Perhaps it's the reason why when I say "I love miniature painting", often Sicilian people
doesn't know what's I really speak about!

What a pity, consider a large amount of Sicilian Painters!

At the end, therefore: good event, good people and good models!
Sicily: land of sun, food, traditions...and painters!
See you next year - I hope :)
Daniele

Here we are with some pictures now - enjoy!

PS:. I want to thank Massive Vodoo, and in particular Roman for his great availability and
kindness to give me the chance to tell that info about the event.

Roman: You are very welcome, Daniele. Thank you for the nice report of a great looking show!
You can find it now linked up to MV's event report section.
