Thank you Wayne. For a really nice sculpt, it doesn't make it easy to mount it. Just sitting on a hunk of wood (or stone) it looks kinda silly or unfinished... but the angle and elevation make it awkward to put it in water. We can only do with the equipment we have... or something along that line yet far more vulgar;)

I'd like to see your version of this piece... post him up someday.

Great work on this Colin.
I've had this on the blocks for a couple of years now and your version has encouraged me to get on with it (y)
In order to create a dramatic single figure piece the sculptor has pushed the design to it's limits and beyond .......
the angle of the prow is nigh on impossible but as an artistic composition it's superb.
Well done mate you've really brought it to life, nice colour choices and the soapstone was inspired.
Cheers

Well said Derek.......I beat around the bush for a long time before I set myself to buy and go for it.Very nice sculpt all around. But kept beating my head against the wall because I always thought it needed more. But the more I looked at it the more I realized what would have to be done.So I just took it for what it was and did the best I could with the paint and put it on a nice, small round base .Thought about the water thing but didn't want open a can of worms. So accepted what I had and did the best I could....with a simple name...."VOYAGER"....wish I could send pics....But just don't have the right equipment.....A little tip though if you go for it......which you probably know......the prow needs to be pinned.....also at least one foot..but not permanently until everything is ripe..........................What the hell am I telling you for....I'm sure you know way more than I do.:).......Have a nice Christmas in case I don't see you........Wayne

Thanks guys... I'm glad you like it.

If you have it in the grey army, give it a go. The fig went together beautifully... the boat... took a little bit of putty to fill the big gaps.

Joe, I did take a *** at engraving on the base. The soapstone is very soft, it makes it easy to engrave but also very easy to bugger up. What I really should have done is practice a lot more on the scrap bits of stone... but my bullheaded impatience won the day. Next time I'll know better but probably do the same thing again ;)

Cheers

Colin
