Hello there,

I'm in the process of finishing the Pegaso 54mm representation of Duryee zouave. Yesterday I've painted the part above his white gaiter (I don't know the english word for that). My question is : what the exact color of this "upper gaiter" ? I've browse internet, and on reenactor pictures they seem very yellowish, far too brand new. On pictures of K. Rocco or in the book of D. Troiani I have dedicated to zouave troops, their color seems to be between brow and black, but it's pictures of collectible who are 150 years old.
Apparently they are made of leather. I've painted them between beige and brown, but I'm wondering if I would have to apply a yellowish wash on them ?
Any zouave specialist down there ? I would greatmly appreciate your help.

Best,
Julien
