A Fixture
Hello Guys,
I will do a previeuw from something that was sended to me trough our PF member Tommi.
As you all well know Tommi can paint awesome heraldic, shields etc. I was wondering how he did and start asking questions. With that he offerd me a couple of Vinyl stencils.
When i saw this my mouth fell open. Great detail, and fantastic sharp lines.
It works as follows. Once you picked up you heraldic you cut a stencil out with a scissor or a X-acto knife.
Then pull off the back and glue the stencil to the figure (it is sticky).
If nessecery the stencil can be heated with a hair dryer and pushed into creases with a tooth pick to get a really snug fit, the stencil can then be airbrushed or stipple painted to leave a sharp outline of the pattern which will still need a certain level of painting skill to paint in any detail.
The highlights, and shadows in the heraldic are gonne to be paint free handed.
Tommi is going to start to release some designs this month and the sheets will be available direct from Tommi's web site in a new section due to come online in September, ( price to be confirmed but should be about £8 per sheet)there will be many designs that will cover all scales up to 120mm. Each sheet is cut on a professional industrial vinyl cutter on thin gauge high quality vinyl,
Here is a picture of a shield that he is doing for his next figure the keystone and scorpion are done using the stencils, the entire shield only took him about 1 hour using this method.
I hope that i made some things clear enough with my very bad English and ugly photo's , but i wanted to share with all of you that Tommi has a contribution to us all for making Heraldic painting alot easyer.
Marc
