What eyes! magnifique ...
Thanks for the info, Laurent, and Martin! However, I think that in 1944 there were no emblems on the helmet.
I love the shovel, mind sharing the technique?
I also believe the shovel is amazing, can you please describe how did you achieve that effect???
Yes! I'm glad you noticed that. I painted tiny 7-UP logo and I was really difficult to paint. And painting Lucky Strike and Wrigley Gum was hard too.Is that a bottle of 7-UP in the musette bag?
During the French campaign in Italy and there are many helmets withdecals.Se you search the net there are pictures!
From what I have studied it was the national colors shield that was no longer placed on helmets due to the brightness/contrast against the drab paint. The eagle decals, both Luftwaffe and Heer, along with the SS shield continued in use. Of course there are those exceptions even to the end of the war where a Soldier continued on with his earlier issued helmet with both decals intact. Hope this helps.Oh I'm confused about the decals on the helmet
In fact all books I've read about german uniform said that decals were removed in 1943 (if I remember well) for the reasons Martin gives.
I tooke a look at the bundesarchiv online picture and I didn't find a lot of pics about paratroopers on the Westfront in 1944. But some I've found show no decals (but this doesn't prove that they were removed on all helmets).
Sorry Kazufumi.
