Just starting on this one, which has become known in the house as "The Kardashian Bust" after I said I was going to paint her as a bride and call it "Waiting for Kanye".

There are many, many of these painted around the web, it is a well known figure. Just the "true" face done so far (the model has 3 options). After the flawless smooth surfaces of the 3D printed busts I have done lately having a face with texture makes a change. I have opted for a deathly pale, natural skintone so that the true face matches as a pale version of a warmer skintone colour over the neck and arms.

Fantastic start Rob, the detail you've added in the early stages is excellent.

Malc

Thanks Malc, she is certainly an interesting face to work on.

I managed to get my phone to take a picture that shows her features more brightly, still a bit over-exposed but at least she has eyes now!

I still cannot decide on the colour for her dress, narrowed it down to a dark bitter orange, dark blue or my original idea of bridal ivory white. That will determine the colour of the cat and where the skintone goes.

Nice one Rob, think your original colour choice would be good so of course the cat has to be black, the best ones are.

Cheers Simon

that is going to be a special one,the painting shall be absolute great, but this is a woman I absolute don't wanne see in real life
creepy thing LOL :)
The cat is good :) hahaha

Currently I am thinking if the dress is blue or white the cat will be a ginger, If the dress is orange probably a dark tabby. Steering clear of black at the moment because there is a lot of hair on the bust and that will be "black".

........ this is a woman I absolute don't wanne see in real life
creepy thing LOL :)

Don't worry, she has several "public" faces which are all artificially beautiful, you only get to see how she truly is when the cameras and audience are gone.

Hi Rob

Not my thing but a great sculpt and a challenge , good start on the head ...bit of a looker eh ...lol

As for the dress ..agree avoid black or a dark colour ...like the idea of a fiery orange but a pure white bridal would be good as well

Following this with interest

Happy benchtime

This lovely girl is proving a real challenge.
After much prevarication I did the ginger cat, her raven black hair and an off white dress, sticking with the evil "bride" idea I first had. Then when I started looking at the accessory pieces it just didn't come together as a story, if she was "the bride" there was no reason for the backdrop piece that attracted me to the figure in the first place.
So something had to go, either leave the backdrop piece off or change the colours. Bugger. The colours had to change.

Not where I want to go with the colours, especially as dark green is the "Box Art" scheme, but it is what it is. I have completed the base colouring on her right arm with the mask and am about to start on the left hand with the jewel box.
Then assemble those parts and finish up matching bright reflections on all the jewellery and the highs on her hair.

Then start on the backdrop piece and the resulting OSL, my first time trying to do that. This one is taking a while.

very beautiful done already and euh,I love more the face she hold in her hand :) just a stupid joke Rob,
it's a very special one this (y)

Hi Rob
You're flesh tones are perfect.
Did you base the cat on your kitten.
Overall this is going to be a cracking piece when its finished.
Good luck with the osl.

She is looking, well hideous but very nice if you know what I mean, the dress probably works better dark than a wedding dress IMO. It gives great depth to her so far and the mask is a great contrast, I do like ginger tabby, after black cats they have the most personality, well mine did anyway. Looking forward to you completing this because it's gonna be ace.

Cheers Simon

looks good, scary thing!( almost halloween)
very nice painted, good color choice also of the cat!
Like it Rob

Thanks guys, this one is the most complex piece I have done so far, an object lesson in sequencing.
The cat is not based on any of ours (we have 3 and a half) the ginger was a "painterly" choice to add a strong focal colour between the white dress and black hair.

He will be brightened a bit as his head and rump are hit by the OSL from above and behind. That is the theory anyway :nailbiting:

Still working on this bust, finally starting to see the bits come together. Just waiting for the sub assemblies of the backpiece and her hands to set off prior to initial assembly of the whole figure.
I have begun the OSL but need the backpiece in place now to position the reflective areas.

I did roughly paint the 2 alternate "false" face masks that the model comes with as alternate characters.

Looking forward to seeing the finished article. The faces look nice and would look good adorning the front of the base once complete.

Cheers Simon

Pretty much all assembled here, still some extras to add to the backpiece but that will have to be after completion and varnishing. The remainder now has to be painted with everything in place to try and ensure the candlelight for the OSL hits in the correct places.

I have put a very stark lighting in so far and will be glazing down into the shadows and adding a more yellow tint to the light. Thankfully this is all behind her so when I mess it up it will not be visible in the display case. I am still undecided on the colour for the flowers in her hair.
