I don't know if many of you will have known Ray Osborne, but he sadly passed away over the weekend.
His enthusiasm for this hobby surpassed many of us, he was so passionate about it, and would be gutted if he ever missed a show especially Euro.

Going back a couple of years he attended Euro when in poor health, it was a show he loved, that shows just how passionate he was. Even then he was rushed to hospital on the Sunday afternoon.

Your presence and enthusiasm will be missed.

RIP

A name I've heard, but I didn't know the guy. Was he a member on here? Seem to recall being told of someone being taken ill at Euro a year or two ago, it must have been him. In any case sad news, and condolences to his family & friends.

Hi Malc,

Heard the news from his club a real sad loss, saw him last at a show in the Helicopter Museum ..all he coukd say was how much he liked Euro and was looking forward to Bugle Call in November...

Sadly he won't be there in person but will be in spirit ....

RIP Ray and get to that bench with all the other modellers

Such sad news to hear - Ray's passion for the hobby never dwindled even at the worst of times. Rest in Peace Ray. Sincere Condolences to the family.

I remember conversations with ray at euro, as you say malc a real loss to the hobby about which he was always so passionate and optimistic. Condolences to his family and friends in the hobby.

So sad to lose another stalwart supporter of the hobby,

'Rest your brushes in peace Ray'.

I have wondered if it would be appropriate rather than morbid
to have a memorial section, perhaps in the gallery for those passed.

By posting their finished work, others can see how they contributed to the development of our hobby.

Just a thought but it has occured to me on a number
of such sad occasions previously.

I'm not sure whether he signed in as a member or bot, but I'm sure he visited the site regularly.

Ray used to Judge the Juniors at Euro, I'm thinking of providing a memorial trophy for that class at next years Euro.
I'll have a word with Geoff Illsley at the weekend to see what he thinks.

Excellent idea a nice tribute to Ray's memory and something to remember a ardent supporter of both the hobby and Euro .

I personally think it would be a good idea a tribute not morbid
