Feeling my age!

On another age related matter. I noticed a nail in my tyre this morning, well into the safe T area and in the thick part of the tread. It was in at a very acute angle and at worst I'd need a puncture repair.
Took the car to National and the Kwikfit. Both only gave it a cursory glance told me it needed replaced and quoted £200 +
Went to a small local business established over 30 years, guy had a look took a pair of pliers and removed the nail that was only embedded 1/8", checked the tyre, wouldn't take a penny.
Basically the multi group arses must have a manual instructing staff that if anyone looks over 60 screw them.

Unbelievable. Car needs 2 new front tyres, phoned National and was quoted £348. Pointed out that they were on their website at £130 each, guy without a pause said "we can do them at that".
Ordered them through third party Tyre Shopper, same tyres, same National fitting depot for £229.
Im sure they make this stuff up as a bet to relieve boredom .
