Good morning everyone,
We're just a over a month away from Sword & Brush 2019, and while we've been posting on Facebook, perhaps this might be a better way to make sure you're all aware of the really special seminars we have this year at Sword and Brush. As you have taken seminars through Sword & Brush in the past, you should be familiar with the format.
These ones are shorter versions of the full weekend classes, so if you ever wanted to try one out but couldn't commit to a full weekend - now's your chance! They are suitable for all skill levels and are a great way to get advice from two of the world's masters! The following classes are available for registration:
Friday, Sept 6, 7-10pm -
Painting Space Marine Armour with Fernando Ruiz
Cost - $70, includes a Primaris Space Marine miniatures
Fernando will explain how to interpret the volumes and place the highlights and shadows on Space Marine power armour using a variety of techniques. If time allows, he will review some other details. like NNM chest eagles, faces, etc
Advanced Painting WW2 Bolt Action Miniatures with Jaume Ortiz
Cost - $70, includes a 28mm Bolt Action German miniature
Jaume will explain how to take a realistic approach to WWII miniatures in 28mm. Among other things, he will review German camouflage and, if time allows, some other details like field grey, faces, equipment, etc.
Saturday Sept 7, 9am - 1pm
Painting a 54mm Fantasy Face with Fernando Ruiz
Cost - $110, Spirit of Adventure 54mm Miniature included
Fernando will explain how to paint a face on a 54mm fantasy figure. If time allows, he will review some textures and materials like wool clothes, tartan and leather.
Saturday Sept 7, 130pm - 530pm
Painting German WW2 Camouflage in 1/35 with Jaume Ortiz
Cost - $110, Alpine MG Gunner 1/35 figure included
This is Jaume’s signature gig. Jaume will explain how to paint realistic Waffen-SS camo on a 1/35 figure. If time allows, he will review some other details. like field grey, faces, equipment, etc.
Sunday, Sept 8 9am - 6pm
Painting Bust Faces with Fernando Ruiz
Cost - $195, 1/12 scale Rollo, Duke of Normandy bust included
Fernando will offer an in-depth seminar on how to paint a bust face, doing a sketch and finishing it later cleaning transitions and adding effects. If time allows, he will review some other details of the bust.
Sunday, Sept 8 9am - 6pm
Painting a Continental Soldier in 75mm with Jaume Ortiz
Cost - $195, 75mm Private, 1st New York Regiment of Continental Line figure included
Jaume will offer an in-depth seminar on how to paint a historical 75mm face, doing a sketch and finishing it later cleaning transitions and adding effects. If time allows, he will review some other details of the figure.
*NOTE: A general admission ticket is also required for Saturday or Sunday seminars, it is not required for the Friday night classes.
Paint is supplied, although you are free to bring your favourite colours along. You will also need:
