Who sculpted this? Great pose! Capes and swords - you can do some really 'romantic' stuff with them, can't you? Not exactly my thing, but I can admire the work.

Einion - Captain Alatriste is a character from a series of novels by author Arturo Perez-Reverte...if that's what you meant by 'Who?' I've been meaning to read these novels for some time but haven't got round to them. He's a 17th century sword fighting investigator of sorts, solving murder mysteries and the like.

Brenton is right about the identity of the figure. He's a veteran of the Tercios, more of an adventurer/mercenary, than a detective, although he does get involved in some mistery plots. I, for one, enyoyed the books.
Last year a film, "Alatriste", was released, based on the books, starring Viggo Mortensen. It was a fairly good historical film, although in my opinion they should not have tried to compress so much book material (they adapted the first five books in the series, no less!) in a single film.
