Started another Charley’s War inspired work, depicting a barbaric field punishment No1 inflicted upon British soldiers during WW1. The sadistic military MP, ’The Beast’ takes pleasure in seeing the men suffer.

Using a few parts from ICM 1/35 British soldier set, hornet heads and sculpting in a mix of Greenstuff and Apoxy putty to create each character.

lots of work to bring the Roden BL 8inch Howitzer up to scratch, dumped the vinyl wheel parts and scratch building an upgrade.

Very nicely modelled. A barbaric punishment which the Dominion troops didn't tolerate and on a number of occasions cut down British troops being so punished.

I concur, field punishment No1 discontinued in the 1920’s, by then thousands of British soldiers were subjected to it in WW1. Akin to a crucifixion, for me that is symbolic in its own way. For the scene I see the guard soldier as Longinus hence his bayonet being attached and the sadistic MP the beast as Pontius Pilate.

Thanks mate. Re the putty. Greenstuff and Apoxy have the advantage of absorbing Vaseline. A trick I’ve learned is if using in colder weather or with slightly older putty add Vaseline to the mix on your fingers and it will rejuvenate and make the putty more malleable and smoother for detailed work.
