How does the master figure go from its sculpted form to parts that fit together when completed kit form? How is it cut apart or disassembled to create an accurate fit? I’ve never come across and article or discussion of that part of the process. Just curious. Is creating a resin figure different at that stage then a metal one?

It's all trade secrets ;)

Actually the cut and joins depends on whether it's a traditional or digital sculpt.

For digital they design all the cuts and joins in the digital sculpt before getting the master copy printed in the separate parts. That's why digital sculpts assemble so well.

Traditional sculpting literally involves the master sculpt being cut into parts and any keys and sockets being sculpted into the joins.

Moulding and casting with resin and metal is similar and more depends on whether they spin cast for metal or pressure pot cast for resin.

Yes, but how? And don’t say “very, very carefully”. I can imagine destroying a figure in the process pretty easily.
