Playing Devil's Advocate, FOM was originally intended as a bit of fun and supposed to encourage participation on the forum. From what I can ascertain, it has actually attracted professional painters and those who are attracted by the promise of a prize, with little or no increase in forum participation. If anything, comments on individual threads have subsided considerably from when I first joined, to just an occasional comment here and there. These professionals seem reluctant to participate in WIPs, offer little in the way of assistance for newcomers and use the forum solely to promote their work/studio. It is the same old problem as competitions at shows - the choices of winners, etc is purely subjective and offering three classes surely just makes the admins task more onerous?
Just my observations, for what they are worth.
