So I’m blessed to have everything in order financially so I will be taking some trips this year. I’m traveling to South America to visit some family and see the sights. I’m also going to Adepticon. For those who don’t know it’s the US’s big miniature gaming convention. I would also like to attend a figure show if those still exist. Any recommendations? If you could only attend one show, what would it be?

AMFS (Atlanta Military Figure Society) Marietta, GA Feb 21-23
MFCA (Military Figure Collectors of America) Trevose, PA Apr 18-19
MMSI (Military Miniature Society of Illinois) Schaumberg, IL Oct 9-10
There is also a smaller but good show in the Long Island area, I believe usually held sometime in November

My pleasure., KevinThere used a show in southern California, usually in April. Not sure if they still hold it but maybe someone can jump in and help
SCAHMS - Southern California Area Historical Miniatures Society

SCAHMS is in hiatus at this time. I think the group itself has sort of fallen apart, but some of the members were working on re-starting the club and the show.

Prost!

The Long Island show's date usually falls a weekend or two before Thanksgiving. The club, the Long Island Miniature Collectors Society, has migrated its main web presence from its old website, to a Facebook page, so that's where you can find updates. I was at the show, but I can't remember off the top of my head the specific dates for the 2020 show. I think the dates are the 13th and 14th of November. Hopefully someone else will know better.

It is smaller, in terms of the number of participants, than MMSI and MFCA, but it includes many of the same people.

Prost!

Thanks for the info gentlemen. Of course MFCA falls during my daughter’s birthday. I will look into Long Island since I have family in Queens.

Our custom for many years was to hold the show on the first or second weekend in May. Four years ago, we moved to a new venue. We'e gradually building a relationship with the venue, to the point where we can say we're a regular customer and have our preference. So far, they've accommodated us as much as they can, but it's meant that we've had to schedule the show a little earlier, in April. I think soon we'll be able to get back to our old dates.

But maybe we'll meet up in Freeport, in the meantime!

Prost!
