I occasionally find it amazing that people pay more for the figure on Ebay than ordering it new. Take for instance the figure of teh US Navy pilot WW2 which is there now going once for a $100 and agan just posted for $99 starting price.

Wow and its readily availiable after being rereleased recently

Its beyond me why anyone would be willing to spend $100 on a Verlinden figure period, there are so many Good companies out there why waste your doe on Verlinden

Richard Almond, fantastic sculptor! A real loss to our hobby. I'm lucky enough to still have a couple of his castings, the RAF pilot with the teddy bear and a French figure from the 1700's, sorry, I don't know exactly what it is, I just found it the other day and it has long lost the label. I'll try to post a scan of it to see if anyone can identify it for me.

Another hard to find name is Ravenwood, remember the Flying Dutchman and the Berdan's Sharpshooter? Good stuff.

But, all of you are right, how can anyone in our field plunk down a 100 bucks for a Verlinden? I sold the Series 77 Scola from 20 years ago on eBay and was surprised that I only got 40 some-odd dollars for it. Like my Father in-law used to say, "Something is worth only what someone is willing to pay for it." That includes people who are ignorant, have too much money (what would THAT be like?), too many credit cards, or who are, for lack of a better "PC" label, stupid.

Oh, and don't miss out on the Poste Militaire 70mm Prince of Kiev I have on eBay right now! It has only one bid so far and has just 9 hours to go! And speaking of stupid, it might have helped if I had spelled Poste Militaire correctly! I spelled it "Post Militaire". Look Ma! No 'e'! Rats!

Ric

I have both the Almond 95th Rifles figures (the Sgt and Rifleman) much too nice to cover in paint and fantastic just as white metal! I was lucky enough to meet his wife many years ago not long after he had passed away lovely lady who kept the business going, so the originals must still be in the Almond family.

I spoke to Jackie Almond (Richards late wife) some 4 years back and she still had the Masters and was still in business (on a smaller scale).
Lo and behold last year I was in Vienna and found a small, but very well stocked,Figure shop near the Cathederal. The proprietor had an extremely large stock of Almond Figures and when I told him how hard to find they were,he couldnt
understand it,produced an Almond Sculptures colour Catalogue-Flyer and told me that he could order at any time....Amazing !!!

Guys

Just a quick note on this, someone is offering a couple of poste militaire kits for sale on ebay for $55, they are both avaliable from Elite so make sure you do get a bargain if you bid.
