I bought this flat the Boston expo because I was moved by the scene. Had no intention at the time to ever try to paint it. I have only done one flat in the past (semi round), So it was pretty challenging for me. The picture didn't turn out quite right but hope you all enjoy.

All critiques and comments are welcome.
Thanks for looking.

It is called "Der Abschied" = the farewell and it is part of a group of three flats.

You can find that scene and the others on a german monument

Brad: I find you have done a very good paint job

Brad you don't realise how happy I was to see a thread titled "Finished Flat". :)
You've done a great job. I've also painted this flat (and the other two that go with it). Are you going to do any more? I hope so. :)
Roger.

Thank you for all your replies.

Ulrich - I did not realize that this was part of a group of flats and a German monument. I find that pretty interesting. I will have to look at the others. Thank you for commenting.

Roger - From your comments you must be a flat painter. I have been drawn to flats lately because, first, I really like them, and second, I dont have much time to paint and I can jump almost right into the painting with a flat. I am going to do more. In Atlanta I picked up a Santa Clause (a gift for my Mom & Dad this Xmas), a dragon, and and beautiful scene of a lady with fishing pole with a gentleman kneeling beside her playing a flute.

Marc - Its funny, but I find them harder, but at the same time easier. I cant explain it. I think the painting is concept is harder, but the actual painting easier because I can brace both wrists against the table and also grab my painting wrist with the other hand so I'm super stable. I dont know, I may be rambling.

Tony & Alexandros - thank you for your comments.

Hi Roger

Thank you for the links. And I have seen, if I remember correct, your group in picture frame. That looks really good.

@ Brad: No problem. I have done the same for Roger. And I think you shall give the two others a change

Ulrich

Roger - Thanks for the links. I really like your version. A very nice set of flats. The picture of the monument was interesting to look at. Thanks again.
