Finally something unpainted from "First Legion" ...:

Title: French Voltigeur 1812 / Retreat from Russia
Scale: 75 mm
White metal
Sculptor: M. Voronín
Order number: FL7504

The stolen silver clasp of an icon that the guy strapped down on his knapsack is a nice gimmick!

The thing is sculpted so precisely ...

...... that you can even assign!

The silver fittings belonged to an icon that showed Holy Nicholas, who was (and is!) portrayed in Russian sacral art this way.

Here a comparable and equally old piece ...:

Lovely sculpt. You just know he’d lose not just his plunder but his toes too — that is if he was lucky enough to survive the crossing of the Berezina, the cold, starvation and constant attacks by Cossacks.

Thank you Martin for this news (y) . It is really a very beautiful sculpture. She undoubtedly deserves such a beautiful painting! I really like the character's position and the finesse of the details.
