Hi Ron,
The old way of fixing pastels, charcoals ect on drawings was to use hairspray. I know you can buy modern fixatives probably very similar check out Windsor & Newton website.

don't bother, just make sure the pastels are put on sparingly and worked in well. If you need more depth do it with a couple of layers.
Hairspray tends to stay a bit sticky and the commercial pastel and charcoal fixatives are expensive and some can leave a slightly satin/shiny coat.

Certainly is....still go for Saturday 11th Feb, thinking of meeting up in either Bon Accord, Pot Still or the gang hut for the biggest gang in Glasgow:whistle:...the State Bar.
I'll contact earlier in the week.
If there are any others in Glasgow that Saturday and would like to meet up drop me a pm.

Marryhill Fleet Ya bass. Albeit very Old Garde :)
 
The old way I used to use with artist's pastels (long before MIG came along) was to use Gunze Sanyo flat. Thinned out properly and sprayed through an airbrush in thin layers never lifted any pastels/ pigments.

I use Model Master Flat Clear to fix pastels to a kit, shot through an airbrush and thinned down, using light coats. Light coloured pastels usually dissapear though I have found. If you dont touch your models after they have been given a coat of pastels then usually they wont come off.
