Dan..thank you for your very kind comments...
As I don't have this piece anymore I can only show this photo with the contrast increased...not so great quality, sorry.

Peter..thank you...I use magic sculp, as I can warm it prior to mixing which makes it very soft to work, this is useful especially where the sections are thin and need a delicate touch.

All the best....Roy.

Hi Roy,

Thanks so much for this educational sbs as it dawned light on a somewhat obscured facet of our "small" hobby, at least to me anyway

Your sculpting skills are out of this World!!

Take Care,

Ray ;)

Roy,

Incredible stuff! The detail you create is amazing, just jaw dropping! Hope the client is as pleased as we are!

Nancy

Great stuff Roy!!! What an inspiration to try something flat!

How did you go about doing the arrows on the border...looks to be pretty evenly done!

Keep it up!

Many thanks Roy,..
this is a wonderful SBS.. Allways wanted to sculpt characters from historical literature.. 100 mm, Flats could be the way to go... thanks again Roy..

Phil...

Very many thanks to all you guys for the kind and positive comments, it's always good to look at something different, especially if anyone is encouraged enough to have a shot themselves....all I can say is go for it...you'll love it.

Stefano...how are you my old friend..?..sorry, there are no copies of this one...it was for a client as interior decoration..shame...it would be a great one to paint..

Anders..for the little arrow shapes I thought of making a tiny rubber stamp, but as I came to do it I just got on with sculpting them on there individually..that's maybe why they don't all look identical..tedious, but good dexterity practice...

Thanks again guys....Roy.

Thanks, Roy. As a long-time flat painter who has admired this figure at shows many times - actually the series of four - it is fascinating to see how the figure was developed. Your artistry is brilliant. Thanks the chance to see how it was done.

Thanks for the kind comments Pat...the sets of four that you've seen at shows were engraved by Regina Sonntag, and they are beautiful...I believe Alphonse Mucha painted 3 sets of the four seasons...each a little different, but all of them very appealing..some of his other series are equally attractive and the artwork he done relating to the 'White star line' (the shipping company) are really worth looking at for flat subjects, I've attached an example below.

All the best....Roy.
