Nicely done! 2-4mm is a great thickness, still close to the traditional flat vs a demi-round or bas-relief.

I've taken to sculpting a few flats as well. So far, SCWBs - Scantily Clad Warrior Babes in 90-100mm. I'm also looking into some medieval subjects. By hot air gun, I take it you're not talking about a hair dryer? What's the process?

Again, nicely done ...and I'm looking forward to seeing more!

Cheers,

Glen

Mark, many thanks, still waiting for suggestions. (y)

Jay, many thanks.

Glen, I commented on your SCWB and it might well have been your comments about sculpting on glss that gave me the idea, so many thanks for that. As I've said I sculpt on glass and harden by using a heatgun, actually it has heat tool written on it, I bought it off a friend at my club so haven't got the box to give you any details. Just wave over the sculpt for a few minutes and hey presto done. I've tried taking them off the glass without much success, so now I just cast over them which is a easy solution. Hope that of some use to you.
Cheers Ken

Ken, Those are really nice. I've done a few myself using Aves Putty. They're fun to do and are quite a departure from doing a fully round figure. ~Gary

You know my favourite mate :)

Well done on all of these mate and I am glad they have attracted so much interest.

All the best mate

The Pony soldier was a nice paint Ken and I am now trying to convert Deitrich into a proper soldier. First job is cutting off the eagle and swastika and the collar badges. Fun. A great idea mate. How about doing R E Lee as both a Union soldier and as the familiar Confederate for starters. Napoleon as a young artillery officer and also as Emperor?
Best of luck with the sales of these mate.

Pedro, many thanks mate but you do surprise me in your selection , I would of thought your choice would have been 3rd and 3rd :D

Cheers Ken

Gary, I was surprised how much I enjoyed doing them . I think it's the fact you're attempting to duplicate a flat picture and that there's no need for any research , it is as it is. Many thanks for the comments.
Cheers Ken

Steve, many thanks mate and a good choice.

Tom, would that proper soldier now be having a red star ;) I like the idea of doing Napoleon young and old. Thanks for that mate.

Cheers Ken

I am full of surprises...:D
Did this flats are commercially available?

Good sculpts.

Trying to get a likeness in 'flat', a challenge you have risen to.

as for baking them, I have used baking paper on top of glass/ old plate, and have managed to get a good relase.

Still, different ways to get a sculpt done!
