No Matt, it's everywhere!

In the fantasy land of 'Hobby World' the more you spend on expensive brushes and materials makes you a better artist?????????.... right!

There are some things money can't buy......you'll find it here on PF!

Cheers,
Jon.

I cannot escape the impression that this really is a joke or experiment of some social scientist or student guys, just to see who will send money and pencils. The section 'this is not a joke' just smells too much like camouflage to me. And the background pictures and all are just way to slick.

Only one way to find out: send in a pencil and an order. What's $12,50 to find out the truth!?

But rather not my $12,50 though...

Cheers,
Adrian

Of course it is a joke. Look at the picture of him sharpening a pencil wearing protective goggles and a face mask. You can buy an electric pencil sharpener for about $25 that makes a perfect point in seconds.

I had to pause a moment before clicking the link looking at the words in the URL and wonder exactly how those pencils were sharpened....

I have yet to find anything showing this to be a joke. I even found a site where people are signing a petition to try and get him on the Letterman show. Maybe it is a joke but I'd be more than happy to shapen a pencil for someone for $12.50. It's funny just the same. ~Gary

I was talking about the fact that people will pay for this service, but rather that someone (an American, of which I am one) came up with what is turning out to be an ingeneus (SP?) idea.

You mean the face mask and goggles didn't tip you off?

I have sharpened a few pencils in my life and needless to say I must live on the edge not to have thought to wear proper protective gear when doing so. And $12 - 15 to sharpen a $.25 pencil? I wonder what he charges to squeeze paint out of a tube?

OSHA will be involved soon as the mask and face shield won't be enough. The sharpener will have to wear steel-toed work shoes in case the the pencil is dropped point down.

Bob, I believe Lockheed is developing an electric paint tube squeezer under government contract. There are, of course, civilian and military versions.
