PS - I play a Gibson ES-335 through a Vox AC-15 or Vox AC-30 and get plenty of string definition! Heavier gage strings help.

PPS - I like Fenders too.

How are you planning to make the strings???
It's going to be very difficult to paint the pearl
inlays on the fret board under the strings...!
