Frankenstein Walks: Who 'made' this figure

But enough of my foolishness. I did not know about Ms Weaver's Alien
figure or the Black Lagoon aquatic actor, either. I've been attracted
to that Black Lagoon figure a number of times, but never sprang
for it because of the base, how the base looked and how the
figure was attached.

Hi Rick,

The CFTBL was the sixth and last of MM series 1. The original kit came with the simple resin "puck" of a base; the scenic bases were afterthoughts that were sold separately. BTW, if you are referring to the Creature's scenic base, I couldn't agree with you more!

I always thought--and this is just a personal opinion--that GEO's MM Creature was their take on the "1/12th scale" (again questionable scaling) Aurora MOTM Creech. This was the pinnacle of the MOTM series--some might say of all the Aurora Monsters!--and has long been OOP. Fortunately for those who missed it the first go round, or those of us reliving happier times, Moebius has just re-released this much-sought-after classic this year. And it is a beaut!!!

Augie

PS--GEOmetric Designs is still business, albeit under different ownership: George Stephenson, founder and original owner, after a brief hiatus, has gone on to bigger (literally), and IMO, better things with Black Heart Enterprises. Note that the current GEO website does not have the entire backlist; I don't know if they have been discontinued, or simply not listed. Best, AJR.

Wow! Thanks again, Augie

Wow, thanks again Augie for that detailed information about those fantasy/
monster genré kits. As I said earlier, I did not know any of that stuff. I didn't
even know that another company bought up the Geometric Designs molds.

I will definitely check out the two web sites you included; and really
appreciate it.

I realize in re-reading the part of my note that you copied, that I didn't make
myself clear about the Creature from the Black Lagoon figure, or the base. I
was referring to most of the various companies that offered their version of
the CFTBL, and their bases. In my view kinda hoaky. But while at at IPMS
USA National Conventions some years back, I did see one CFTBL on a base
that really worked for me. Perhaps it was the one in question that you have
mentioned.

Kind Regards,

The Miami Jayhawk

nice work rick , you gave that ol monster the the classic look , which reminds me that ihave the wolfman waiting to be painted , he is on that classic style of chaney and everytime my son comes into (the lab ) paint room he quickly points out that i havent started it yet . but my thought was to create a whole seen like u did , and that foe me takes time . i grew up an aurora buff , and if it wasnt for them i wouldnt have the love of model building or painting . good luck and keep us posted if u take any monster projects on , thanks jimmy cicalese

Hello Jimmy, and thank you

Hi Jimmy:

And thank you for your kind remarks about that Geometric Design figure
from some years ago. I did check out those web sites that Augie gave me,
and I would suggest you do the same. There are some really nice villian,
horror, and ghoulish resin casting out there, that I was not aware of, or if
I did remember them from years ago, I did not know you can still buy them.

I do Historical figures as well, and enjoy painting figures of all kinds, as
well as doing some minor conversion work, or creating a new setting (as
was the case with the Frankenstein figure I posted here.) for some of them.

Hope you will display some of your figure work here, soon, Jimmy.

Thanks again,

rick

Hi! Rick.
A wonderful ground work.
Superb!
The overall atmosphere is very wonderful.
I congratulate completion.

Mitsutaka

Thank you Mitsutaka for the kind words

Hello Mitsutaka:

It was so kind of you to respond to this thread of some time back. I do
appreciate your taking the time to do so. And I will say that after three
weeks of work on 4 different versions of the article I intend to submit to
the IPMS/USA Journal staff, I think I've found most all of the typos. It has
been a lot more involved than I thought it would be. Hopefully, the Journal
staff will accept my submission. There are 22 photos I shot that go with it
to try and show the concept of Color Harmony and Compositon, in the past
work I have done.

Thanks again, my friend, for your support. Hopefully, I will be able to get
back to my usual routine, as the knee rehab has gone reasonably well, for
an old codger my age. And I do miss being a regular on the PF forums.

Take care, Mitsutaka. You are indeed, a gentleman,

rick brownlee
