Hi mate,French flags have been a sore subject on here,we have so called experts saying this and saying that and yet nobody actually knows for certain what types of flags were carried by the French in the 100 day campaign, items of equipment and uniforms were not of regulation standard as they were at the start of the empire and flags are no different,my advice to you would be to paint the flag as you want it to look, and if it feels right for you then that's all you can ask for.

ha ha ,I found your reply after I sent you a message, I am bloody hopeless on this laptop, thank you for your reply, its just what I was looking for./badger

Well...I consider myself a hobbyist and a descent member and I don't really give a full blown **** what's right or what's wrong as far as accuracy goes when it comes to fine details;...As long as I'm happy with what I do;..and when you get right down to it:.............................O.K.......I take that back....At least the anatomy gotta be right..:)..

Well,... it`s of course a matter of personal preferences where you like to give or blow anything upon.

As long as you give advice about accuracy to others upon their request your comment should IMHO be more than a good guess or worse if information is available that just needs to be read and understood (maybe the second part needs a "so-called expert").
Some French flags survived till today and originals can be investigated - especially the flag and eagle of the 45th Regt of Line which was the topic of this thread (see pictures of the real thing in the link above) - so if it is your desire to get it right it is not just about painting (or sculpting) the flag the way you want it to look.
If you don`t care - go ahead and enjoy painting like you feel but don`t grumble about others that care about facts.

To elaborate on the so-called "sore flag subject" a quote from the link posted above:
"In order to throw some light onto this period of French history, it is important to remember that only the numbers fixed to the base (of the eagles) had survived the burning of 1814. As careful as all the other Finance Ministers, the one under King Louis XVIII had taken precautions to un-gild the Eagle before sending it to be melted down."
Accordingly the previous flags and eagles of the French Army under Napoleon were melted and burned after his banishment to Elba (April 1814) by orders of the Bourbons during the "first Restauration". When Napoleon returned from Elba (March 1815) for the "hundred days" new flags and eagles had to be made which bore a different design. These were the flags carried at Waterloo - the mixed and at many times inferior quality of equipment hastily issued to the French troops aside.
I recommend the eyewitness accounts and surviving letters from French soldiers published in the link above - a most interesting and realistic time travel into the past without the need to rely just upon guessing:).

P.S. Anatomy issues will not be very different from accuracy - good luck if you share a comment less than "on my list / must buy etc" about a new release. Therefore I will switch it off now and stick to my resolutions made some time ago.

Guys

There is much document especially letters as Martin says and some great books. I for one would love to be close to an original but now we all strive accuracy as much as possible ...but still enjoy the hobby.

I think that interpretations can mist over with time , not all the French artists were 100% accurate 100% of the time

Great link as well Martin..cheers

PS ..Anna ..come on where did you get the picture of me ..lol
